Talking You switched to IF and IFFYM?

sooo ... how many of you are now on IF and fitting your macros after figuring out meal timing and that you can finally eat stuff you enjoy everyday?!

    checking in.

    BTW, sweet stats
The above statement/post does not represent the opinions of anyone in real life. This is the internet. Not real life. Anyone who cannot grasp the difference between the two lacks the basic intelligence necessary for survival and should not be allowed to form opinions.

Why do so many people seem to get the acronym IIFYM wrong? Is it the "f" at the end of "if" that makes everyone put two Fs in the acronym instead of two Is?

    Hehehe someones cutting...

On topic I started following the IIFYM philosophy a few weeks ago. Its awesome. Feels like I'm making great progress and repairing my relationship with food. Sounds lame when I type it out like that.... Whatevs.

Try being at approx 8%-9% body fat, ghrelin is through the roof, hunger is unbearable.
I was skeptical too. IF is awesome for ghrelin control.
I don't feel any hunger at all - fasting blunts hunger.

Martin promised this and Martin delivered. I would be dying right now on a regular meal schedule, one week ago I was miserable, felt like a bottomless pit and if I didn't have my will-power, motivation and accountability before people who read my log, I'd start binging.

I am not saying that IF is superior. But it did for me what I needed at that time.

I don't train fasted. There are protocols with meals pre-workout, you still get benefits of fasting.
I do 15/9, Martin suggests 14/10, but I found that 15/9 is not a problem for me.

do you train in the morning? I would like to hear how some people incorporate IF with training in the afternoon. Once I get my diet/macros down, id like to give IF a shot, but I train after work @ 6. I'm not a morning person and i'd be miserable waking up at 5 every morning

Nah, early morning and weights is not a good combo for me LOL.
I can do only cardio fasted.

    I eat at 12.30 p.m., then I eat at 4-5 p.m., lift at 7p.m. and then eat until 9-9.30 p.m.
So my feeding window is from 12.30 to 9.30 p.m., yours would have to be one hour shorter.

Hmm interesting I thought you had to train fasted to tap the benefits...Now that I think of it I eat dinner (last meal) at 8:30 and don't wake up/make breakfast till around 12:30...I guess I am fasting

This is taken directly from leangains, I mean, I am not making this sh.t up:

    One pre-workout meal

This is the most common setup for my younger clients that are still in college or have flexible working hours.

    Sample setup

12-1 PM or around lunch/noon: Pre-workout meal. Approximately 20-25% of daily total calorie intake.
3-4 PM: Training should happen a few hours after the pre-workout meal.
4-5 PM: Post-workout meal (largest meal).
8-9 PM: Last meal before the fast.

    Two pre-workout meals

This is the usual protocol for people with normal working hours.

    Sample setup

12-1 PM or around lunch/noon: Meal one. Approximately 20-25% of daily total calorie intake.
4-5 PM: Pre-workout meal. Roughly equal to the first meal.
8-9 PM: Post-workout meal (largest meal).

Currently doing the first example, fast from approx 9-10pm through till around 1-2pm. Have approx 1000cal meal, then train 5-6pm and dinner after and then snack before bed (depending on how big dinner is). This suits me because I like my sleep and I like my tucker. So I can sleep right up untill I need to go to work (7am) and when I get to eat after I train it's over 2000cals : ). I'm slowly putting on weight with minimal fat gain. Hitting Daily cals pretty spot on.

Also is this the ultimate nutrition section thread. Not one but two of the most common thread topics combined. (I'm sure its not the first or last time)

will try it out, but my two problems with this is:

    1. If i eat too close to my workout im somewhat sluggish

    2. I get excercise induced heartburn very easily and that many calories so close to my workout may make things worse.

    :/
4k+ my friends call me Ras

Being strong and fat is like being skinny with abs. Neither of them count

    IIFYM and IF checking in.

^This, after a week or two it became a surprisingly good lifestyle change while cutting. Not much hunger unless I start hitting 18 hours then I get a little crazy. Drinking water helps some.

^This again. Don't train fasted. I don't see the need or benefit of doing so.

I am currently doing 18/6...insulin resistance is a bitch, but this appears to be working for me...losing weight, losing the diabetes, and not losing my mind (or my muscle mass).
