I am using Medieval history as a reference. In general you could not field large armies back then as it was just too expensive to maintain them.

Generally speaking, that's true. But whenever conscription was implemented, as is seems to be in Martin's world during wars in the books, the percentage of male populations sent to war spikes drastically. Granted the major metropolitan areas (KL, Oldtown, Lannisport, etc) won't be affected nearly as much, but everyone outside those spheres is subject to one liege lord or another, who will call all males of fighting age under his dominion to follow him to war.

Just finished my reread of AFFC. Honestly, the second time around it is a much better book. It isn't as good as ASOS, but when I read AFFC for the first time I was rushing through it waiting for "action" and I was disappointed that there was so little of it compared to ASOS. Overall its a very well written book and some important stuff is revealed/hinted at.

Also, I was thinking... everyone always says how Robb lost his kingdom over the Westerling girl. However, I think it was irrelevant, he was screwed anyway. His military situation in the middle of ASOS was basically hopeless. There was a small chance he could have taken Moat Cailin from behind but if that failed he was stuck in the Riverlands with no allies. Walder Frey would have realized this and betrayed Robb anyway... Jeyne was just a convenient excuse. If she didn't exist Frey would have found another reason, anyone else agree?

I think he could have reclaimed the North if he wasn't betrayed by Frey/Bolton but he would have been hooped if he wanted to continue the war with the Lannisters. I've thought the same thing about Lord Frey though, he is not a man of honor, so it's laughable to think he would take such severe actions, over something that was essentially a slight to his honor.

Haven't really heard that from anyone personally, but your analysis is correct.
Without help from the Vale (Lysa was being a paranoid ho and refusing to send troops), Robb never really had a realistic chance of beating the Lannisters. He and Edmure probably could have held the Riverlands indefinitely, but they'd eventually just be surrounded and suffocated.

Struggled onwards, **** was progressively getting realer. Its like, GRRM gives you tiny tiny good guy wins (as far as there are good guys), then pulls out ****ing apocalyptic soul crushers. Finally finding out about the dragonbone knife, Barristan Selmy outta ****ing nowhere, Mormont selling secrets. ****ING JOFFREY FINALLY, and then after that, when im feeling sorta good, he has Bronn leaving his bro Tyrion hanging, ****ing Shae! And the badass that was the Red Viper having an amazing fight sequence and then dying so so so badly. I mean I know that the whole Mountain/Hound thing has been foreshadowed as the end of that plot line, but jesus christ, he raped and murdered the guys sister then dashed a babys head on a wall! I was getting ready for some cathartic release from that ******* dying, Oberyn seemed like such a cool dude aswell.

It's easy to like drogo because of the way that martin writes him, but you have to remember he spends his days slaughtering, enslaving, and raping. **** the dothraki, they all deserve to die.

She was 100% right in what she did, she saved thousands of people from horrible deaths by killing that piece of ****.

My guess is they just show Roose with a knife in Robb's guts as the very end of the episode (skipping the direwolf-head, and throwing a naked lady stark into the river, etc). Next episode probably wont have any flashbacks.

Because he was killed, Dany proceeded to flail around like a chicken with her head cut off, abolishing the slave trade, sacking and inciting a civil war in Astapor, and starting a war in Meereen.
Drogo wouldn't have been able to do so much damage in such a short span of time if he tried.

Definitely read them, they're short and you learn a ton of backstory on what happened before Robert's Rebellion. You also get to meet a certain character early.

Should i go the graphic novel route or just wait for this release with all 4 short stories in 1 (whenever that will be). I suppose i could wait given how damn long its going to be until the next full book.

if u see him. u see him as an old fat man whos never been popular. just bitter and jaded. but however hes created a story thats different from the "good guy always wins" its mainly the bad guys winning on this show and very few true heroes who survive or pimp characters like tyrion lol.

and i like it better that way because its far more unpredictable.

I didn't really care about him in the book but now I'm sad watching him die after protecting the kids going to the wall. Dude was bad ass. Can't wait for Arya to start her prayer I hope that is the end of one of the episodes

I stopped reading after the female '' ninja '' clans. Seems like a wasted investment to stop now but can't picture myself picking the series up agian.
