    resting between sets

Ive begun to notice after a set, my muscles burn. But about 30 to 40 sec later i get a heavy pump, and after that fades a little . In say maybe 20 to 30 more seconds it seems like the perfict time for me to do my next set. Does anyone else gauge their rest times like this, or noticed a pattern?

yep. you will learn to listen to your body. it will tell you when its time. 60-90 seconds sounds about right for me. little longer when going real heavy.

I never time my rest periods between sets. I've never looked for a pattern. In strongman mental preparation is just as important as physical, so I really doubt there'd be any pattern based only on time.

It depends on how your body works, like said previously listen to your body. I go heavy on my big lifts and wait about 3 minutes between sets. Things like bicep curls is a minute and half to two minutes.
Get your ass in the gym period!

In general I gauge my rest intervals on my how much my breathing returns to normal.
How can you visualize training a muscle if you don't know its structure?

    Nah.....I think I'll stay.

Who will answer such pressing questions as this ?

"This past weekend I was at Costco doing some shopping, when I suddenly got a pain in my left shin. It was hard to walk for a while. I had been to the gym earlier in the day, but that was hours previously. Yesterday I went back to the gym, but decided that I should ease up some on the weights for my leg exercises. Should I take it easy for a while, until the shin splint is healed? If so, for how long? I checked out shin splints on WebMD and saw that they could take quite a long time to heal."

ANSWER : Ever heard of a doctor ?? They are these rather knowledgeable fellows that dispense advice about the human body

Been timing all my rest periods (making sure that they're not more than 30 seconds) this past month as my nutritionist/trainer has had me doing FST-7's.

I made that comment because we get a lot of mean people in the forum.

When I ran track in college I would get shin splints. Mine were hairline fractures in the tibia. I think the time for them to heal was about a couple of weeks. But I was a lot younger then. I have to avoid sprinting for a couple of weeks.

45 seconds to 90 seconds depending on the exercise, will go 120 if I'm lifting heavy.

30 seconds rest between sets is more cardio than weight training.
