Engineering is more in demand but that does not mean everybody with an engineering degree is getting a job as an engineer. Many people who major in engineering find it very chanllenging and end up graduating with a very low gpa. On the other hand, a 4.0 gpa in engineering wont get you far if you don't know how to communicate and work with others.
If you're interested in the business field but want to have that technical background and want to be called an engineer, try Industrial Engineering (IE) which many people call it business on steroids. Depending on the school, the program may including Operations Research, Logistics, Management, Optimization, Computer Systems, stochastic modeling, etc. It's has more math/stats/probability.

ITT: Every engineer thinks that they'll get paid 6 figures 5 years down the road (insert story here, probably something to do with "well if i did this or this, I'm not like the others" or "i know a guys who's uncle works for NASA and makes a gazillion dollars")
If you want money, you don't go into engineering. There are far easier ways to make MUCH MUCH more than to sit around taking fluid dynamics and thermodynamic courses for a above-average salary...And also realize that that $65000 salary average implies that there's a fair chunk BELOW that number also.

Hi, professional engineer checking in.
My job and paycheck stability > sales. Hard hitting sales guys are dime in a dozen, I can throw my feces out of any window in NYC and hit 10 of them. I can also sell **** by getting tipsy and doing coke then hitting the phone.
Also, sales are not really needed. Be right back, building e-commerce infrastructure in a month, laying off sales staff and hiring marketing people.'03 OG, YOU JELLY? 3K+
