I know a lot of you hate Scooby's videos but I was reading into this:
http://scooby1961.blogspot.com/2011/...t-at-same.html
Basically he's saying you can gain muscle and lose fat whilst on a 10% caloric deficit. He also says 30-40 minutes of cardio a day is necessary.
What do you guys make of this, because a lot of you tell me that to gain muscle you can expect to gain some fat too.
Any other ways to gain muscle and stay lean at the same time? It's just that I've become fairly lean for the first time in my life since I was 10 and I don't want to start packing on body fat again.

Nutrient partitioning is down to how your body's hormones respond... some people can do it, others can't. Whether choice of diet can influence this, I can't say for certain, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence for IF and CKD if you want to give those a try.
There is also no evidence that I am aware of that lots of extra cardio will contribute to nutrient partitioning. Certainly your favourite nutrition writers don't favour doing extra cardio.
I just feel that -10% is going to give you a very frustratingly low weight loss. I prefer to try and do it faster than that and get back to concentrating on gaining mass if I can.

Just do one or the other, dont try any achive both at the same time.
Bulk - Gain as much muscle mass as possible while keeping fat gains to a minamum.
Cut - Lose as much bodyfat as possible while maintaining muscle mass.
Im in full bulk mode, Im gaining mass without adding fat, the idea of a bulk is to gain as muscle muscle mass as possible yet keep fat gains minamil. People who go on these extreme bulking phases and get fat.. Its just a waste IMO because they have a harder job of cutting up at the end of there bulk. I would rather just slow bulk and gain quality muscle weight and not just "weight" and stay in good condition year round.
Im bulking up at the moment, this year i want to pack on as much muscle as possible, this is me currently in full out serious bulk mode yet i still stay lean and in single digits.
No need to get fat.Last edited by JOSEF RAKICH; 04-15-2011 at 02:38 AM.
