    Catching up from the weekend. Feeling kind of lost with what to do regarding calories. Scale was up to 130.0 after dropping down to 128.4 last week. I know that the scale shouldn't matter but this still has me perplexed. Re-read the nutrition sticky did the calculations to figure out my BMR. Numbers from Mifflin St Jeor were much lower than the Katch-McArdle or what my BMF is showing. M-SJ was 1200, K-McA was 1376 and BMF is 1323. I'm using an activity factor or 1.5 (4 weight training sessions and 2 HIIT cardio sessions/week and I'm a nurse so I spend quite a bit of time on my feet) so my maintenance should be anywhere from 1800 to 2065 yet my BMF for the last week has me averaging 2204 cals. Maybe after this NFSC contest is over I will do an experiement and eat at maintenance according to the different formulas just to see which one is most accurate for me.

    Workouts are supposed to be geared more towards cutting so we shall see what my trainer has in store for me this evening.

    Turned out to be quite a workout. Bunch of giant sets. At first, I was sailing through them and at the end I thought I was going to die! I'm usually not one to sweat but at one point in time someone handed me my towel and said, "I think you need this." It was a nice change of pace from my usual workout where I'm resting a minute between every set.

    The chicken tikka massala was wonderful. How have I not known about this dish before? Naan is also awesome. Kids are at their cousin's for a few days so I thought I would experiment. I had picked up one of the McCormick spice cards with all the spices needed plus the recipe. It was supposed to make 6 servings but I ate two and my husband had 3 which leaves me with 1 measly serving for leftovers.

    Today is usually back day but it will likely be another day of giant sets. I'm feeling energetic today so hope it translates well in the gym.

    Workout involved giant sets and those really wear me out. Also, had to flip the tire 150 times and I had to stop and rest after the first hundred because I was exhausted. Not sure if it was more mental or physical because I normally just do it 100 times.

    Did a little experimenting with food and made a marinaded chicken. The marinade contained soy sauce so my sodium intake was through the roof. It was very good.

    ^ Thanks. My upper body strength is dreadful but my arms actually look OK.
    Did end up having to go out on a call last evening but at least the office called me early enough to give me the heads up and I was able to get over to the gym before I had to go out. Not my greatest workout but I did it! Today was a killer workout--I was there for 2 hours. According to my Bodymedia, I burned 447 calories during that time. Had to do 30 minutes of cardio. I'm going to see a play this afternoon and will be sitting so I guess it's good to get in some extra cardio.

    Kind of a lost weekend with food. Went out for dinner on Saturday to Smith & Wollensky and split a 10 oz filet with my sister in law. Also had some gazpacho and a wege of lobster quesadilla for an appetizer. The mashed potatoes were split 3 ways plus we shared a bottle of wine. Came home and had some goodies at our block party (cake, cookies). Instead of my food log I thought I would post my calorie burns from Sat and Sun. Despite my intense workout on Sat I burned less calories than Sunday. I did go in on Sun morning for some cardio but I was pretty busy just doing household chores and grocery shopping. The only thing out of the ordinary was fixing the clothes dryer but that wasn't that strenuous.

    I think I've simply accomplished a recomp. Scale hasn't shown much change Chest workout was on Monday and I swear I have the worst upper body strength ever! Today is back which is my favorite.

    Had a good workout yesterday, my last before vacation. I surprised myself by doing 100 tire flips in 7:37 which I believe is the fastest I've even done them. Perhaps it was the 3 double stuffed Oreos. Going to do photos today or tomorrow. I am going to be so happy to eat at maintenance for a while but at this point I'm not sure what really is my maintenance. My BMF says 2200 but I still think that's high. I told my trainer that I want to focus on muscle building so I guess if that is over my maintenance I will be starting my bulk early.

    I think I was sick of cutting at a certain point. I think I'm also scared to let my weight get down to a certain point. Some of my co-workers were convinced that losing all that weight stressed my body too much and that's why I ended up with a flare up last summer (we're nurses-we know everything) Off for a well deserved vacation--taking the kids up to the Mall of America in Minneapolis. I'm sure I will be doing lots of walking and eating. I have no intention of doing any sort of calorie counting but I will just try to be conscious of making smart choices.

    You have such a nice proportionate body, Cathy! My measurements are more like 33-25-34-20, so when you look at me all you see is THIGHS. Have a great vacation! (And, yeah, I want my shift/enter function back too. )
