So I've been doing a regular bb split for a while and I don't really see progress, so wondering if anyone who did stronglifts 5x5 before can tell me about their progress or anything, like if you gained mass from it etc.
I wanna gain mass in my chest arms traps, and legs (pretty much i wanna gain mass in general)
stronglifts 5x5 composes of
lifting 3 times a week, doing 5 reps 5 sets of each exercise, add 2.5lbs to each side every next exercise
squat, bench, inverted rows, push ups and crunches on monday,
squat, overhead press, deadlift, pull up and prone bridges on wednesday
squat, bench, inverted rows, push ups and crunches on friday
and then reverse the order for the next week, so 2x deadlifts the next week instead of doing bench twice a week
thanks

I started this, but 5X5 was to hard for me at the stage I was at, so I switched it to 3x5 with accessory exercises.
Eg.
A
-Squat
-Bench
-Barbell rows
3x5
-shrugs
-bicep isolation
-Tricep isolation
3x8-20
B
-Squat
-DL (Only 1x5)
-OHP
3x5
-Chins
-Forarm isolation

I liked it, it was good fun, although you need to have good form and flexibility for squats since you'll be doing them so often.
Also, Mehdi (the guy who runs it) is an utter ashole. Fcker deleted my posts from the ******** fan page and has blocked me from writing anything at all on it just because I disagreed with his running of the site. That, and he parrots 5x5 as if it's an original routine and almost a gimmick (*pic*; PROOF that the 5x5 method WORKS!) If you can get past his sometimes annoying attitude, it's all gravy.

When I read it he almost said something to the effect of "do StrongLifts5x5 or StartingStrength or whatever doesn't really matter do my program if you want accesory exercises like chinups and pushups and such. Squat, deadlift and bench that is primary." Even Rippetoe the author of StartingStrength says his program is nothing new and fancy, quite the opposite really, a tested classic that works and was written by popular demand.

Mehdi had recently closed down the forum to newcomers, with people having to pay to have membership if they want to join. The idea was that he was doing this to 'keep the trolls out.'
1st comment was something along the lines of this:
I like the group, I like the routine, but this is unnecessary. People ignore the trolls, doing this won't keep them out if they WANt to troll, people ignore them anyways. A while back you said you could have advertisement banners on the home site and that would get you money, we'd prefer it to being charged for membership. If you want to make money out of the site, just admit it, as we can't blame you, but no one believes this is for reasons of efficiency.
Wow, deleting comments just because you don't like them? This is about the SL community, we're saying what we think, I don't understand why you're doing this. I'm not going to bother using the forums anymore, but you could at least not censor what we say here.
He only likes people who agree with what he says, as was evident back when I used the forums. Anyone who disagreed with what he/ the majority thought (they learned from him) in threads regarding relationships, ethics, etc was shot down. It's great what he's done with the site and the routine, but I don't like how he treats the people that use his stuff. He can make a business out of it, he can have a certain ethical code taught on his site, but it's rude and arrogant when people who think differently are pushed aside.
My two pence.
I agree, it's just that his site/ ******** page comes across as some kind of infomercial in terms of what they say regarding the routine. There are constant updates about strong SL members and he'll caption a video or end it with a phrase like "PROOF that Stronglifts method WORKS!" which comes across as very gimmicky and as if he feels he has something to prove to convince others to follow the routine. It works, we know it does, and yet he constantly reminds the people doing it, as if they're naive children that need to be reminded or something. Maybe it says something about the majority of the clientèle if they need this constant approval, I don't know, but something about it is quite irritating. We know it works. Move on.
To end it though, I do appreciate the work he's done, I love the site and the routine and people who do it are great.

Mehdi should be mature enough to realise that he does not know everything and should be open minded to new ideas. looks like he needs to grow up.Powerlifter at PTC Performance Training Centre

Ah, that's cool. It just seemed that, due to it being so blunt and short, it could have been a sarcastic post, down to interpretation and all.
And I agree. Like I said, he's done a great thing by setting up this routine, the site, and putting it out there for people to use, not to mention the motivation he gives, but he can still be quite egotistical about it all.
