Thread: Is this right?

    Is this right?

    I am currently 195 lbs at 25% bodyfat. I am going away in 15 weeks and looking at losing 1.5 lbs a week (22.5lbs) Weight after 15 weeks will be 172.5 lbs

    Now I calculate my lbm at 147.75, so if I'm 172.5lbs and assuming I have lost only fat, my bodyfat would be 147.75/172.5 = 0.86 = 14%

    Just wondering

    a) Is this correct calculation?

    b) Is this even possible? ie does 1.5 lbs a week sound feasible for pure fat loss and no muscle loss? Assuming 2000kls a week, 200 grm of protein with 40/40/20 macros, lift heavy 5 times a week in evening with 5 times cardio in the morning for 30 mins

    Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

    a) yes.
    b) Possible? Yes. Unlikely though if I were to keep it real.

    That being said, rate of loss is pretty much related to how much you have to lose in that, if you have 10lbs of excess fat vs 150lbs of excess fat, clearly the person with 150lb extra can afford to cut more aggressively and drop it at a faster rate.

    I think 1.5lbs/week is a reasonable target for you.

    I realise that in an ideal world I should really only be losing 1lb a week for best result but was curious about the 1.5lbs

    My stats e close to urea and I lose 1.5-2.5 a week

    I think 1.5 is doable if you're indeed in the mid to upper 20%s.

    If you are more concerned about losing weight then stick to the 1.5 target. If you are more concerned about preserving your lean mass, target lower rate of loss.
