The local fox affiliate had a vignette about a week ago about how under funded DPD is. They rode around with a guy for half his shift at night, and i swear to god his car:

had no barrier between the front and back seat (said it never had one, was a Lt. car)
had no computer (said it was stolen about 2 years ago)
had almost 200K miles on it
had no working radio, literally had to phone in all plates and phone for back up (upon arriving at a vacant house, he was asked about calling for back up...he said "nah, im near using up all my minutes this month".
had no weapon between the seats, said it was pulled for another district

He went to say not all cars are that bad off, he just doesn't "need" that extra stuff so he gets stuck with it. He had to buy his own reflective outerwear to use at traffic accidents at night. I know each department has its own set of gear thats considered mandatory, but COT DAMN NO RADIO?!

Yeah the DPD officers are either the best people on earth, or they are the lowest scum. Its the only PD that i have heard of that will accept people with felony convictions (up to a certain point) and recent drug use.

Just a few weeks ago a cop got run over in Greek Town (casino district) by some random from new york named Sadam Hussein (fukin weird right?).
