Exactly!! Remind yourself that this moment, today, is all you really have and to get caught up in either the future or the past is a complete waste of the moment....

take bikini pix. load onto computer. look at chubby self with white skin. roflmao.

Freebird- That was really interesting what you said above about bulking and cutting being the answer to really changing your shape. Do you know of any good case studies or articles you have read that have shown how someone has recomped over several bulk/cut cycles? I know you are right I would just like to read more about it.

Do you all take breaks from cutting and eat at maintenance for some period of time? I know many are just beginning their cut right now but I ask because I have been at this now for about 12 weeks and I am feeling really burned out. I am thinking about just taking a week off of lifting, Hitt and eating at maintenance for a week. Any thoughts?

Just myself. I started out under weight, but extremely under muscled and lots of lower body fat. You could grab my thighs and feel nothing but squish. No way could I simply lean out lower body as my upper body was too lean as it was. My first bulk was 5 months. The next year it lasted a couple of months then I was set back by multiple injuries. This past bulk was a 7 month winner. I weigh 13 pounds more but have a lot less lower body fat. Even in the current pict after my bulk. I would lean out in the spring and do a recomp in the summer. This summer I'm doing 6 week bulk, 2 week lean cycles.

Well, I have a Bodybugg so I make sure I'm 500 calories under whatever it says I've burned that day. It's usually around 2,000 on school/workout days and then 2,600 on school/work/workout days. I've lost a lot of weight really quick - I weighed in yesterday at 117 so whether it was mostly water or whatever idk. I do drink alcohol at least twice a week and I've been under eating on those days - I'm learning that during a cut it is NOT worth it lol.

Are you switching your ways because you think that the 6 on 2 off will work better or because you stopped seeing results with the recomp?

^ My life story... But like juliacheh said, this doesn't even out in one cut/bulk cycle (wish it does), it takes longer time. I personally am bulking, my legs/buttt (with triple t) are both very muscular and fat compared to small/lean upper body and I'm thinking I need bigger chest, wider shoulder, and maybe bigger arms to even out. Then on my cutting, my buTTT will smaller and so on... You see?

PS: I almost have no boobs so it's even worse!

I definitely gained muscle in my legs! If I can gain just as much over the next year I should be in good shape.

Oh, I eat more on legs days, less on other lifting days, the least on rest days. Cardio will be on rest days.

Ha! I thought about running again. Going to skip it though and do low impact. I've never had knee problems but my last very heavy routine on leg press showed me where I need to start using knee wraps. I want to keep these puppies happy.
I had a knee injury a while ago and I relied on swimming for cardio. Don't know if you like it..? It also has a form of resistance so it's better for preserving muscle.

Well for one, I don't exactly have a lot of leaning out to do, and because I know bulking reaps bigger rewards. I should be able to get the bennies of bulking without feeling out of bathing suit shape and not feel like I'm wasting the spring/summer months.

Thanks, but there are a lot of women here who have accomplished far more

For lower body I love doing Layne Norton's strength/hypertrophy routine. I alternate it with a quad ham split about every 6 weeks. My shoulders keep me from doing it for upper body but it should be awesome for that as well. Upper just stays on a one a week split generally pyramiding 12, 10, 8, 6 but still do a 3-4 x10 on some exercises. Nothing special.

I am an ex swimmer and lifeguard! Unfortunately my shoulders would not like swimming much these days.

Ok I'm in! Maybe you guys can tell me if I'm doing the right thing by cutting.

Current stats: 5'4", 132, eating ~1500-1700, 4 day power/hypertrophy split, currently doing no cardio...and I would like to keep it that way.

I want to bulk but feel like I should do a slow cut before I start. I'm not trying to lose lbs so much as a little fat before I start bulking. I know I lack a good foundation of muscle that is why I am not trying to add in lots of cardio, drop cals too low, or cut for an extended period of time...I'm thinking 6 weeks? I'm feeling skinny fat right now though so I'm a bit conflicted.

PS: I almost have no boobs so it's even worse!
Yeah I'm definitely going to be bulking again very soon. I may embark on the FBM 6 weeks on a bulk and 2 weeks cutting bit. I'm going to be posting pics of my thighs and booty to see if it's some past body image issues that are creeping up on me

    August 20th...D-Day!

Training for my first show (Aug. 20th)... Will start to cut 16 weeks out, so 4 more weeks of building muscle. I'll post progress pics soon. I've made some great gains the past 3 months!...
I've never done a full blown contest diet, can anyone give me advice on how to stay on track, and "embrace the suck?"... I am so scared I'll fail.

    Current Weight: 140lbs
Goal (for show): 120lbs (says my trainer! yikes)

    Current BF%: 19
    Goal BF%: 10-12

This summer I'm doing 6 week bulk, 2 week lean cycles.

Wow, the difference in the shape of your legs is amazing. Really shows what muscle can do

I must join this thread. I gained 5 pounds over the last month (7-day cruise, and just a whole lot of parties and going out) and I must lose it before Vegas in 4 weeks. I can do this.

    Start weight: 113

    Goal weight: 108 (my norm)

Calories: starting with 1500 and see how I do over the next week, trying to lose a pound a week

Gym: 4 day split w/ heavy weights, 2 HIIT (15 minutes) sessions on the treadmill and 3 steady state cardio (30 minutes) sessions on the elliptical

    In!
Soo I have been inconsistently trying to loose weight for a while now... Officially on a solid plan now & looking to drop this fat!

Weight- Honestly have no clue because my scale is inconsistent & pisses me off haha. When I started my cut (~1.5 weeks ago) I weighed in at 144lbs.

Goal- 120-125lbs... maybe too low? Not sure but I won't know until I get closer to it!

Yesterday-weighed in at 138lbs and was HAPPY!!! Today, I'm at 141lbs.... Really starting to think I should just throw the scale away for awhile... If I'm feeling better, looking better, & on plan then who needs it??!

Good luck ladies your all so inspiring! Lets get it!!!
