This may have done the rounds on here previously but I've just seen this and wanted to hear some counter arguments (hopefully). I come across this in a newspaper article from someone criticising Dr Atkins.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2989112/
Briefly the study shows mortality rates are increased with the LCHF diet. I am paraphrasing here.
The newspaper article said basically yes it may do all these great things for preventing health issues, cholesterol etc... but eating a high fat diet is no better and the study shows an increase in all cause mortality.
The study is basically saying that a vegetarian low carb diet is healthier than low carb with food from animal sources.
I'd like to hear some points if this hasn't been posted hundreds of times already.

Only very few people in the low carb diet group would be on a proper ketogenic diet. I wouldn't take the results of this study too serious.
Epidemiological studies usually find higher mortality with red meat intake. Vegetable protein sources score better. That's normal.Last edited by Mrpb; 05-07-2017 at 10:54 AM.
