It's not really a stupid question. Laws are different everywhere. Here in Texas if someone is harassing you and you're in your car, you're allowed to shoot them. Only if you feel threatened though...

If you (subjectively) feel your life is in imminent danger, and a "reasonable person" (objectively) would agree with you.

Depends on the state, but if the heated argument causes you to feel like the person is going to endanger your life, and a reasonable man would also feel the same way(it will depend if it becomes a civil or criminal case), you are entitled to self defense.

Just today, some yellow-bellied snake kicker spit in my spitoon, so I naturally pulled out my gun, pointed it to his feet and told him to start dancing. He didn't do anything for a minute, so I started shooting around his feet.

That sure made him dance.

Although he had the strangest shoes on. They weren't boots at all.

And his dance moves were really strange.

That's not so clear. I can think of a lot more civil disarmed societies than civil heavily armed societies.

1) most legal gun owners and carriers do everything they possibly can to avoid any kind of heated argument. They know if it gets out of hand, they have the capability to end another persons life.

2)No, you can not just pull out a gun to threaten someone so you can win the argument. This would be assault with a deadly weapon.

Yes. In Texas you have the right to shoot someone on your property even if they're in retreat. I think it applies in New Hampshire as well.

In general you can never pull out a gun unless you feel your life is threatened, a rule of thumb is when you pull your gun you should have the intent of killing this person or calling the police. To have the person arrested for endangering your life or others, or for committing a crime.

tis why i said if you feel they are going to endanger your life because the argument is escalating and a REASONABLE MAN would think so(a reasonable man would think physical danger imminent)
