    Food processor suggestions...

I'm looking to get a decent food processor. I'm interested in making my own nut butters, hummus, etc.

Does anyone have a good suggestion?

for my own nut butters, usually i use the magic bullet knockoff from JCPenney's , as my food processor requires ~2lb of nuts for it work (otherwise the nuts just bounce around), while i can get away with about 4 oz of nuts in the magic bullet knockoff, so i can make a new variety every few days.

As for food processors, i use a black and decker i got at walmart, it has 3 settings, off, on and pulse (press the off button and hold), and blasts through everything i have sent its way (which is quite a bit).

No matter the food processor you get though, i suggest getting the largest capacity that is reasonable for you living quarters, as if you blend anything with significant amounts of liquid, the capacity (before it starts leaking through the blade shaft) is only about 1/2 to 1/3 the listed capacity

I've owned both for approximately a year, and both have shown no signs of slowing down

We have a magic bullet that I use for smoothies. Wouldn't really think of using for nut butters though.

i make almond butter in my food processor.
put the almonds on the oven on 180c for about 20 min to help release the oils and then dump them in the food processor for about 15 min.
takes a while for the alonds to breakdown but its well worth it, almond butter is the best.

obviously this would work for peanuts, cashews etc.

In on answers, I need a decent processor too. Would make life just so much easier.

If anyone finds one that can do all the above + chop TOMATOES without turning them into slush, reps for life.
