Mute the string between with one of your fingers, hell in that position you almost do it by accident anyway

Much easier to hybrid pick in my opinion. Pick the lower note with the pick like normal, and at the same time pick the note on the high E with your middle finger.

I want to cover the attached song (guitar pro file in zip). There are four important parts and one of them is tricky to play with a pick.

Is there a way to play this or can I alter it some how to make it playable with a pick?

I could just play the flute part on guitar and use the other parts as a backing track or cover all four parts with my guitar.

What is your opinion of covering multiple parts of a song? Would it be worth the extra work?

I remember when I first started playing these chords blew my mind. But all you need to do is angle your pointer finger down(or in this case the finger that is fretting the 16,19, and 18) a bit so it slightly touches/mutes the string below it.

I've been taking the country blues and delta blues trip lately. Go back to the origins. I love it. So unique and it's where music all started. Very important to open your mind and listen to all the music you can. Never been a fan of EVH though.

I've been listening to a lot of Mississippi John Hurt, Big Bill Broonzy, etc. Do you know any good tunes to start out with?
I'm finally getting to where I can plumb the bassline regularly while doing other stuff, so I figure it's time to aim at things in particular.

Playing through a Vox AC15CCX (Blue Celestion Speaker), no pedals, with my Teisco Hollowbody 335 Copy (made in the 60's).. try to keep it pretty simple just guitar/amp.

That was pretty nice, I really liked some some of those sweeps and the clean jazzy part. My guitar teacher always used to tell me to check out Vinnie Moore and I always forgot. You like Paul Gilbert, Shawn Lane, Bireli Lagrene, and/or Jason Becker?

Pull-offs are like, playing the note you pull off to, but without picking the string.. So if you had your index on an A(5th fret bottom E) and your ring finger on the 7th fret, again on the bottom E string, play that note, and without playing the A, pull your finger off so it plays it its self, if you can understand that.. Usually with a sort of downward motion on the ring finger pull off.

I'm still having trouble figuring out how to do them. I appreciate Hazey's response but it is hard to translate the words into exactly what I am supposed to be doing.

It's pretty self explanatory, honestly. The name of the technique tells you exactly what the technique is

Uh...what? As far as I know, there's no way to pull off to a higher note. But let me know if there's some magic, physics-defying way to do it. No wonder the guy is confused. I take back what I said in my last post.

It's pretty easy to decipher what I meant you stankgina, but yes, you pull off to a LOWER note.
