The cover looks familiar, so I think these might be them.

EDIT: Nvm, that not it. Don't know what it was as I can't find them on the site.

Is there something I can do to prevent humidity from raping my strings? They were nice and shiny and sounding good on friday, then we had a few humid days, pick up my guitar sunday and the strings are trashed.

in this weather, humidity + finger acids will kill them, all you have to do is wipe them down after EVERY session, takes a few seconds

Clean hands + daily string care = shockingly extended string life.

I did this and my strings lasted and sounded better longer when I was living in the humid hell of the deep south.

Any tips on sweeping? I can sweep up the neck just not going down. Should I try and change my grip or how hard I grip the pick?

Hey guys - I'm de-lurking to ask about your posts above, re: cleaning strings. I've just been wiping them off with whatever I have handy - towel, shirt, etc.

Is there something special I should be using? I remember seeing some specialized stuff on Musician's Friend. Or is it just a matter of continuing to do what I've been doing?

Thanks to all for a great thread! I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet, but I'm working on it. Will hopefully have some things to add as I get better at playing.

Am I the only one who thinks Andy McKee is overrated? I have one of his albums and even after listening to it several times I can't recognize any of the songs without looking at the titles. They all sound the same to me.

If there's something Andy McKee isn't it's diverse. The album is Art of Motion and every song is the same ****. If you're heard one Andy McKee song you've heard them all. He's a one trick pony, although it's a very good trick.

The same goes for Antoine Dufour, actually. If you put on random songs by both of them without knowing what they were, could you tell them apart? I doubt it.

Maybe they're not overrated because not a lot of people actually listen to them, but they are overrated in the sense that it seems like everyone who HAS listened to them thinks they're the greatest guitarists ever and they are definitely far, far from that.

antoine dufour is a 1 trick pony? cant tellthem apart? are u serious?!! wow you need to clean your ear out............. listen to antoine dufours songs......NOW compared to old albums... HUGE HUGE DIFFERENCE.... andy mckee well.....he is more the 1 trick way u say but still the guy is talented... but sorry antoine dufour is probably 1 of the greatest composers for fingerstyle guitar besides don ross..........

Listen to existence..... and then compare it to antoine's new album....

antoine dufour is far from greatest guitarist ever? yes maybe technically........but being a phenomenal guitarist isn't all about technique... it is about feel/composing/ and tone..........

look at eric johnson compared to yngwie......... yngwie is way better technically.....but composing i'd pick eric....and tone hands down also.

You're a bit of a retard, I think. There are countless people who can do what Antoine Dufour and Andy Mckee do. Every song is the same tapping and percussive strumming. Every single one. The best thing I've seen from Dufour had a violin player in it and that's what made it good.

Both of them are way more technically skilled than Bert Jansch, but he's still a million times better a musician. The exact reasons you listed for Antoine Dufour being one of the greatest guitar players are the exact reasons he is NOT one of the greatest guitar players. Yes, his music is good, as background noise anyway. I can put on some Andy McKee while I'm studying or something. But it isn't engaging. It's like a gimmick to play like they do. It's cool to see a few times but what music do they have that isn't the exact same finger tapping and percussive effects? You said Andy McKee is diverse, so let's see the diversity.

edit: another guitarist I'd put above them is Neil Young, as technically limited as his playing is, it's much more emotionally charged and engaging than the cookie cutter tapping that the other guys throw out

im a bit of a retard you think? ahahaha....dude yes techinically people CAN do what dufour does... but can people compose the way he does no........ he is an amazing player with amazing compositions......listen to his songs.......

ANYONE CAN BECOME TECHNICALLY AS GOOD AS ANYONE ELSE.....EVENTUALLY....

but composing is a different story...... open your mind.....you are narrow minded.....seriously

You think just cuz they use similar techniques they sound similar...you are narrow minded....spend time actually listening to the songs....

mckee and dufour are quite different. Mckee uses lots more percussion....and dufour uses lots of harmonic tapping and other advanced harmonic techniques....

No, I think they're the same because they are. Funny how you accuse me of judging them by their techniques rather than their composition and then in the next paragraph describe how they use different TECHNIQUES. Yes, so what if Andy hits his guitar more than Antoine, it achieves the same end result.

You earlier: "technique doesn't matter at all!"
You now: "this guy has great technique! no one can touch him!"

And the fact remains that even an incredibly simple fingerstyle song like this is much more powerful than anything in the Candyrat catalog

Even if Eddie can't dazzle you with his tapping

1 thing I Will agree to you on is.......the appeal of them........they won't appeal to much people other then guitarists...... people like Petteri Sariola will appear to both.
I agree with you on that point only.

Similar to what? You mean one that has the exact same melody?

That was the same old ****, dude. Not the tapping, but he did use the same percussive strumming he always does. If I was going to post Andy McKee songs that sounded like that I could literally post all his songs.

And I'm still waiting for you to back up the claim that Andy McKee is diverse. Let me give you an example of a diverse guitar player so you know what to post:

Now let's see Andy McKee's diversity.

edit: and in b4 "well, in rylynn he hits his guitar THIS way, while in drifting he hits it this other way"
