    Made a bet to keep me motivated

    Long time lurker. Decided to join the forums to help keep myself accountable.

    After a bad year last year I decided to get back in the gym when they opened here in November. Lifted doing compounds 3-4x a week and noticed muscles coming back (muscle memory is great). But I’ve still been stressed these last two months after losing my job and two family members. Stress drinking daily helped me put on 10lbs of fat since December.

    Decided March 1st is the day to get back into legit shape. Goal is to get to 190 (206 now) and lean. No alcohol til end of May. Gym 3-4x a week lifting hard doing heavy full body routines. Couple days of 30 min jogging stairs a week. Hike once a week with weight depending on difficulty of the hike. Tracking calories with fitness pal app staying at or under 2200.

    So I made a bet with my current lady friend that every time I drink alcohol I don’t get head. A 1 for 1 kinda deal. It’s worked so far as it makes me think twice about cracking open a beer or stopping by the bar on the way home.

    I’ll update you guys on the effectiveness of this bet.

    All in the name of gainz.

    Checking in. Workouts going as planned. Diet doing well except last night. Went over calories by 400! Had a going away dinner for my parents. Every day has been 1800 or so. I set my goal at 2200 but have been staying under a bit. Really wanna shred up.

    Gym has been going well. Getting stronger on all lifts via more reps or 5-10 more pounds than last week. Still shocked I can do 225x10 3 sets decline and 205x10 4 sets flat bench but am only at 155x10 incline. So I’m doing incline instead of flat now to try and bring it up. Plus it seems the internet says that incline builds chest more. I could max 275 bench years ago and my chest didn’t grow. We’ll see how this new plan works.

    Sup brahs!

    So I weighed in Sunday at 205 after eating my first meal at noon. Forgot to weigh in prior, but didn’t want to skip my weekend weigh in. Lady friend says I look leaner and less bloated already.

    Still no alcohol since March 1. Track my diet every day and have stayed around 2200 calories and 150g protein daily. I missed Sunday because I went to a party, and I hate trying to track party food. I only ate a ton of salad, grilled chicken thighs, and a lil bit of pineapple upside cake. Drank kombucha and black coffee instead of alcohol all night. Count that as a cheat day.


    Hit a nice 405# triple on deads Sunday before the party. New PR for me. Fit in some chest and arm work. Another PR on incline bb with 190x10 3 sets. Took today off from lifting since my body felt a lil tired.

    Definitely feeling motivated since I keep hitting PRs. The lady friend has also started diet and exercising since she feeds off of my motivation. Hoping to get her in the gym to lift with me soon. 24hr has this deal right now: $15 more on your monthly plan to bring in any guest with you, anytime you want. Pretty cool way to train with a friend/lifting partner/girl.
