How Much Protein to Build Muscle

A muscle building tip for everyone is carbs are more important when building muscle than protein!! why is it I always here that when trying to build muscle you need at least 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per day per pound of bodyweight. In my opinion carbs are more important when trying to build muscle. I have been lifting steady for 2 1/2 years now and I've tried taking 2 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight and I did not see any additional gains from what I take now. I currently weight 202 lbs 6"2 and only consume 140 grams to 160 grams per day. I think a lot of you may find this to be controversial but I do think carbs are more important. for more muscle building tips visit my blog by visiting the link below any comments about my blog and my comments here please leave them here

I think everyone here knows that 1-1.5g/lb of LBM is perfectly adequate, but thanks for sharing

For a strength training athlete/person, protein intake of 1.6-1.7 g/kg is ideal.
So since you weigh 202 lbs, 202 divided by 2.2= 91.8181kg.
    1.6 x 91.8181= 146.91, 1.7 x 91.8181=156.09. Your protein range, 146.91-156.09 should suffice.

The only time I ever consume 2g of protein per pound of body weight is when I'm cutting since my carbohydrates are significantly lower. I agree that when bulking you should focus on all of your macros but especially carbs.

I think you can get away with less when bulking but cutting is a different story

1.5 to 2 grams per pound is crazy. I don't even do that when in the last stages of a contest diet. Honestly I think most people these days are on the 1-1.5 grams per pound of lean body mass which seems more appropriate.
