yahoo front page. it's absolutely a fantastic investment. unless you want to be a second class military country.. aka a second class country period.
we're going to turn into fukking england if the military gets hit with budget cuts. NASA already got hit, military is next."Sa souvraya niende misain ye ... I am lost in my own mind"

Not to mention that the project was started while our economy was thriving. It should be done in 5 years, we're 2/3rds of the way through, and it needs to get finished.
Uh, yes. Maintaining a superior military should be priority #2 at worst. We're effectively entering into a technology battle with China.. and if they win, well, goodnight sweet U.S. Having a second-class air program = second class army. Our entire military would take a step back. Seriously, our military playing second fiddle to China is bad news.
As the article said.. it's literally to big to fail. As it should be. Scrapping the project or putting out a half-assed product would set development back 10 years and hundreds of billions of dollars."Sa souvraya niende misain ye ... I am lost in my own mind"

They do not instantly win a war. But you would give them a major advantage in two aspects of warfare.. air and ground. Not to mention that if China has F35 caliber fighters.. their allies will as well. Playing second fiddle to them weakens the U.S in a major way, how hard is that to understand?
I think the cost is obscene.. but sometimes things are worth paying for. I actually like the way the military is headed.. the focus is on intelligence and unconventional warfare (spec ops, forces, etc). But if there's one area a military can't afford to skimp on.. it's air superiority.

This!!!
One trillion dollars, no "shovel ready" projects.
The F-35 Program will employ thousands of people. From highly educated engineers to barely educated assemblers. And these jobs are all across America. And it is not jobs for the sake of jobs. When all is said and done, the US will actually have product that is usable and valuable.
Not sure we can say that about the Obama stimulus.* Trad Archery Crew

Look no one wants to see budget cuts to their industry because obv they will be out of a job, so I understand where you are coming from.
I much rather the military budget be redirected into space programs that will benefit all of mankind in the future instead of making some super agile stealth fighter with short range >_>
