Aquaman
Now i am not a huge fan of the lead actor or comic book movies but this was an entertaining film. Jason Mamoa was a "smart ass" and a hero all at the same time. I was sleepy before we went in to see the movie( getting sick) but stayed wide awake the entire time and actually enjoyed the film. Go see it, 4/5 stars.

Bumblebee was an enjoyable prequel which gives us the origins of the Autobots landing on earth. 1000 times better than the last movie which was dreadful, this one had a good story, action, even comedy mostly done by John Cena. We were spared the mega fights between 10-15 transformers and it was a much better film as a result.

At First Light - Netflix
Right up my alley, aliens, flashbacks, super powers. The story was a little weak for all the great action scenes. Rare (for Netflix) epilouge didn't add anything when it had a lot more potential. If you're a sci fi fan this is worth a couple hours for sure.
Also watched the new interactive Black Mirror
It was kind of cute and worth the time, but nowhere near the masterpieces of San Junipero, Archangel or Shut up and Dance.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Aquaman was fun, not perfect, but fun. Jason Momoa really gets into his character, and that gives the movie its heart. Amber Heard is pretty enough, but she's sorta wooden in this...not much chemistry between her and Momoa. Still, really good action and decent screenplay. An enjoyable flick. Gives me hope that DC will finally get on track with its movies and give Marvel a run for their money as well as the critics' praise.
Bumblebee was what the Transformer movies should have been all along. Not having Michael Bay ruin things is a blessing. Nicely done in all aspects."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com
"Chivalry isn't dead. It just wears a skirt."--Twisted, the YA gender bender deal of the century!

Equalizer 2
Let me begin by sayin The Equalizer is one of my favorite movies. Now let me continue with Equalizer 2 was a huge disappointment. The main plot was so convoluted that I didn't know why the bad guys were the bad guys. Whereas the first movie had a beginning, a middle and an end, with very few sub-plots that were dealt with quickly and allowed the story to continue, this one had several sub-plots that were drawn out and actually unnecessary. If they were to show what a good guy the Equalizer is, they weren't needed cuz we know who he is.
The action scenes were pretty good, although few and far between. The final showdown was confusing and drawn out.
All in all, if you liked the first one, just watch it again. It's way better.

Gf got a redbox called Peppermint.
I laughed and said that it was going to suck; who names a movie Peppermint? It actually was a bad ass Jennifer Garner action flick.

"Polar" on Netflix
Long but really good. Secret Society of hitmen retires the agents at 50, no matter what. As it turns out "retire" has a different meaning for the agency than it does for the hitmen. Lots of sex, drugs, blood and intrigue. Not for the squeemish, I had to fast forward through like a 10 minute torture scene. The bad guys are almost comic book villians in nature which is a twist that makes this movie not "The Shooter."
If you can live with the usual "recovers from a bullet to the knee in 2 days" stuff, this is a great waste of time, based on a novel so the story is very rich. Bravo Netflix.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Showdown in Little Tokyo
Awesome movie, action constant. Dolph Lundgren in his prime as the hero. The villain is very goodlooking and ruthless. The fight in the end is pretty sweet to watch.“With realization of one's own potential and self-confidence in one's ability, one can build a better world."

7 Days in Entebbe
The movie gets points for effort, because it's no simple feat to take one of the most dramatic and compelling true stories and make you not care about any of it.
For the kiddies too young to know, in 1976 Palestinian terrorists hijacked a plane from Tel Aviv to Paris, refueled in Benghazi, then landed in Entebbe Uganda, which at the time was ruled by a terrorist sympathizing psychopath called Idi Amin. The terrorists demanded the liberation of some jailed terrorists or they would kill the hostages, starting with the Israeli nationals. Israel sent Mossad to storm the airport, kill all the terrorists, and bring the hostages back.
For some strange reason, rather than concentrate on the hostages, the movie focuses on the 2 German terrorists, portrayed as not such bad people after all, I mean look, they let the pregnant lady go, and they are so nice to the old lady, and they almost threaten to quit the whole thing if the Palestinians don't stop beating the Israeli kid. They were just 2 misguided idealists who got sucked into something they only too late realized was bad. Pure hogwash. The only hostage we get any time with is the French chief engineer, and an old sick lady that is so kindly sent to the hospital by our hero terrorists (the poor lady was then murdered in her hospital bed by the Ugandan government in retaliation to the raid, not that the movie would care about that). On the Israel side, time is given not to the families of the hostages, but to a nobody Mossad soldier with a dancer girlfriend that doesn't want him to deploy. The climax of the movie, the actual raid, is inexplicably cut back and forth with the dancer girlfriend's performance, ruining everything.
If you want a much better movie on the Entebbe incident, I recommend the 1977 "Raid on Entebbe" with Peter Finch, Charles Bronson and James Woods.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

I wasted a good hour trying. If you didn't see Source Code first, then Commuter might be somewhat ok. But, one kind of walk behind another, same tricks, basically plagiarism. The Source Code was a very interesting fantasy, beautiful work. Commuter was made with one idea in mind - make money on ideas explored in earlier works.

Logan's Run
My favorite movie when I was like 13. Been hesitating to watch it on Netflix because I thought it would be campy and cringy. Just watched and the special effects are a little weak, but it really held up really well. I honestly could not remember the story one bit after ...37 years? But the cinematography was spot on, acting was OK and a great story with twists I did not see coming. It must have been remastered somehow because the picture and colors were crisp. Like movie theater crisp. On wireless Netflix. So glad I gave it a watch. Here's a little bonus, Farrah Fawcett is in it, in a tiny little dress
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Another thumbs up for Polar. If you were a fan of Sin City and The Punisher you will love this movie. Yes, the torture scene will definitely make you cringe. Oh, one of the bad guys is the actress who played Lagartha in Vikings. Wow! And I almost did not recognize Johnny Knoxville.

Free Solo - Documentary about the guy that climbed El Capitan with no ropes and no help. I liked it, and the final part when he actually does the climb was stressful as phuk to watch even knowing he made it. The guy is pretty weird, but I guess you'd have to be to do this kind of stuff.
