Locals were drinking and dining at a restaurant.

It was by all accounts a normal Wednesday night – until it was rocked by the latest horrific act of gun violence in America.

A gunman entered two locations in the town of Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night and opened fire, killing up to 22 people.

Now, a manhunt is underway to catch Robert Card – the “armed and dangerous” person of interest wanted in connection to the shootings.

His excuses could be: He was terminated from his job recently and has a history of mental illness. I read that he was admitted to a mental institution for 6 months at some point. It is one thing to be on anti-depressants versus being actually committed.

We need to do a better job at recognizing mental health issues and take the appropriate action. Our current system if you can even call it that is trash. Also there is no reason veterans should be homeless in the U.S. that’s insane. I know a vet and will get him food when I see him and he genuinely appreciates it, he’s just stuck in the cracks of a system that has used him up and really don’t care about him anymore.

Fixing this will take years but we can’t seem to get the wheels turning. All the money we’ve sent to other countries to “help” them could make a helluva lot of progress in our own backyard.
