"Do you think SHE actually felt like that was a sexual thing he was doing? She's like 6. Only an actual p3do would think that she thought he was groping her, too."
"Not that it's impossible to touch a minor inappropriately, but it is true that a 6 year old girl will not recognize someone putting a hand on their chest as groping, whether it is inappropriate or not."

Maggie
Arnie is in a post apocalyptic zombie world and his Daughter gets bit. In this scenario once someone is bit it takes 2-4 weeks for them to go completely Zombie, so he has time with her as she's declining.
There was a couple touching moments, but there's not supposed to be touching moments in Zombie movies.
Would recommend giving this one a pass unless you're extremely bored.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

You really need to watch this.
I'm not even going to touch on the plot, but it's a cross between drama and horror. I don't like nasty horror stuff, but could handle this.
Whoever wrote this is brilliant, guarantee you have no chance of guessing what happens next.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Attended a Duck Soup showing of the original Phantom of the Opera at the Capitol Theater in Madison, great venue that opened up in 1927 and still has it's original 1,002 pipe Barton pipe organ. Its a silent film so the organist played throughout the movie and did a fantastic job. The movie itself is horrible, I had never seen it and was always led to believe it's a horror film but to me its a love story that went astray because the character is ugly and she rejected him. The set pieces they used back then were kinda neat but overall it's just bad.

Papillion Reboot
Been on a prison break binge, I think Papillion was the GOAT and came up 3rd on my list.
So I'm looking at my phone and waiting for Dustin Hoffman and Steve McQueen and then there's the star of Sons of Anarchy. Well chit they redid it at some point.
Immediately put down my phone, anyone who has the balls to try to recreate these 2 roles deserves my full attention. The actors were Charles Hunman as Papillon (and Jax Teller in SOA) and Rami Malek (Played Freddy in Bohemian Rhapsody) as the Dustin Hoffman forger character.
Kind of disappointed with the Hunman acting. He is always Jax Teller, even the way he smokes a cigarette. To his credit, he got down to skin and bones, maybe like 112 lbs for the role, but the greats can do that and still act. Also to his credit the guy can pull off a fight scene like no one else and he was a serious badass in this flick.
I wanted to hate Malik, or anyone else for that matter for trying to do the Dustin Hoffman role, but Damn, he put a spin on it that I think was a little closer to the novel.
My recommendation is that you watch both and report back.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

(2015)
I wish someone had mentioned this one much earlier.
I have a wife and daughter and without them I am nothing.
Uh-oh, probably most of you already have watched this but I can't risk any spoilers for others who haven't yet.
Someday someone must teach me how to post a convincing one in the Movie Review Thread without revealing anything. *shrug*
Generally, I like Jake Gyllenhaal and the movies he's in.
yet I must say this, for me, is the best movie since "October Sky" (1999).

Black Adam, enjoyable movie with a good storyline and of course excellent action sequences. A lot of times you watch a movie with The Rock and thats all you can see but in this one you drop that and can actually "believe" he is the character. Only 1 mid credits scene but it sets up a follow up and it had the audience whooping and cheering.

Nope
On Prime.
Western Alien movie, has some scary stuff, story is a bit twisted and you have to pay attention. The beauty of this movie is a substory with Glenn from Walking Dead, never seen anything like it, completely twisted and could easily confused for a great Stephen King short story. Looking forward to watching it again and paying attention to get all the details I missed.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Watched a couple on Netflix the other day:
Red Notice starring Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson was very enjoyable with a ton of action, a great story & a twist I did not see coming.
The Gray Man with Ryan Gosling, Billy Bob Thornton and Chris "Captain America" Evans was very good as well with Evans going over the top with his murderous thug routine. Great story with a good ending and left it wide open for a sequel.
Also binge watched all 9 episodes of She-Hulk Attorney at Law, overall it was good but not as good as Loki or Wandavision. The 7th episode was a bit boring and almost lost me but they redeemed themselves with the 8th one and the 9th was just fukking weird with a lot of 4th wall breakthroughs."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? It's brilliant. My Wife didn't get it either, I think it's one of those movies where you get it or you don't. She thinks a lot of things are funny that I think are just stupid, but I could watch Don't Look Up every night and die happy.
Unless the Debassi Comet gets me 1st.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods, what a horrid waste of time. I made it about 1/2 way thru and gave up as the story, acting, costumes, etc all suck. I could not find 1 redeeming thing of value to continue watching this garbage.

The Deer Hunter
Been into Vietnam stuff lately, thread on 1st page.
Finally got through The Deer Hunter, I must have started it a dozen times and always found it slow and boring. Well it's still slow and boring from minute 1 to minute 244, with the exception of the POW Russian Roulette scene which was maybe 4 minutes long in the middle of the movie. Such talented actors, so many academy awards, the story was just weak and slow, I really don't get how this is such a celebrated movie, it's lame.Last edited by Bando; 09-06-2023 at 07:47 PM.

Wife signed us up for a trial of Paramount+
I would say 90% of their content is free on Pluto.
I watched Interstellar, I'm a huge fan of SciFi, end of civilization, and time travel stuff. This thing is just a confusing mess, wish I could get those 3 hours back.
Watched the latest iteration of "The Stand." It wasn't terrible, but critical elements of the novel were just thrown out. In the novel Stephen King describes one of the antiheroes as a buxom brunette, but they cast a thin blonde in the role. It's critical to the story as her hair gradually turns white, not grey, but white.
Amber Heard stars in the stand, so I ended up watching the Depp V. Heard documentary. Wife gave me hell for that as well as no Woman can ever be guilty of spousal abuse, even if she takes a chit on his pillow. Always the Man's fault.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

I'm immediately in on any Liam Neeson kills people movie. He's been in like 100 unofficial Taken sequels and I watch every one.
So on Saturday we were surprised to see a Liam Neeson move pop up that somehow evaded my radar: Marlowe. It's not a revenge killing movie. He plays old time detective Philip Marlowe, from many books and movies over the years. Supposed to be an old time feel to it.
I kinda gotten into listening to old radio detective shows on Sirius XM Radio Classics as I drive and I thought this will be great.
Hard to exaggerate how awful it was. Great cast but it seems like people standing and reading lines rather than just talking. And we didn't know what they were talking about half the time. Lots of standing around talking. Boring. We gave up about halfway through.
The next day I let it run to the end while I did other stuff. It didn't get better.

I feel your pain, once they get a formula they milk it dry with the least possible money and effort.
In the Godfather, the accountants said "we can do it a lot cheaper if we set it in the 70's and use 70's cars." To the studio's dismay, Coppala said "we're doing it in the 50's." Can you imagine Sonny Corleone getting gunned down in a 73 Pinto?
At any rate, I'm in the middle of "Guy Ritchies, the Covenant." On Netflix, I've avoided it because whodafuk cares about Madonna's husband. Been into war flix lately, with the passing of my USMC Uncle who was 1st boots on the ground in Vietnam.
This story is kickass, I don't care for the lead actor, Jake, but the story is great and acting and effects are top notch.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Inside
2023 stars Willem Dafoe as an art thief trapped inside a famous artist's vault like home after a botched art theft. It's 1:45 of him trying to break out while descending into madness from the loneliness, lack of food & water. It's just him the whole movie and it barely keeps you watching, hoping something interesting will happen, it never does. I watched the whole thing so you don't have to. Avoid this movie.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
