    The Movie Review Thread

Just bought into the Netflix, can watch movies on the Wii, this rocks. I liked the Wrestler thread so I thought this may be appropriate.

Today I watched "Sex Drive." Movie about guy and buddies driving to meet a girl so one guy could lose his virginity. Sounds Porkyish but had many LOL's. Dude borrows alpha older bro's perfect 69 GTO for the trip. Has no Dad so apparently relies on BB'er imaginary Dad for advice, good stuff for people like me who don't want movies to be deep, but just plain funny.

Just watched "Wildheart" DVD with wifey. She loved it. I liked it as a guitarist, Jeff Bridges has mucho talent. Only 1 car crash and a lot more emotion than action. Was kind of like the Wrestler if the wrestler was always 1/2 drunk and fat.
Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

I thought that it would be terrible and I laughed myself silly.

I don't know if you like horror movies, but if you do, check out Human Centipede. I streamed that one the other night. Just sick enough to be interesting.

I like some good sci-fi, I'm from the Bladerunner generation and bought the "I am Legend" DVD. Any recommendations along that line would be much appreciated.

Somewhere along the way I started getting sleepless after horror movies, Blair Witch level is about all I can handle these days.

I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to current movies, but if you want to see a good movie, rent "The Lion In Winter," Peter O'Toole/Catherine Hepburne. I think it won something like 354 Oscars back in 1968! LMAO Well, not quite that many. I honestly don't think I've seen anything in my 'advanced' age that even begins to compare!

Human Centipede is 100% anatomically correct!

That's the promo from the film and I believe it. I also believe that wearing tinfoil hats can interrupt the Pentagon and the aliens--they're working together to mind-control us, don't you know--from sending those signals to our brains. Haven't figured out what kind of signals though...

Human Centipede was gross as all get out...but fascinating in a sick sort of way. The actor who played the psycho doctor was quite good, just on the verge of overacting...but not there. Sick but good, if you like that kind of stuff.

District Nine was well-done although I had a hard time with the accents at first. Took me about five minutes to realize they were speaking English...

Tron was a letdown in a way--the 3D just gave me a mild headache and the screenplay bit... but a good way to kill a couple of hours.

Watched Ride the High Country and Wyatt Earp (w/Kevin Costner) the other day and both were solid. Also ffolkes with Roger Moore. Not enough action in the last movie, but Moore's character was interesting, and Anthony Perkins played--what else?--a twitchy psycho. They were the best things in the movie. Roger Ebert, eat your heart out!
"Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com

"Chivalry isn't dead. It just wears a skirt."--Twisted, the YA gender bender deal of the century!

District 9 is definitely a love it or hate it movie, no middle ground at all for some reason. I thought it was great and am waiting for the sequel.

Book of Eli was entertaining, as usual Denzel did an excellent job. There were parts I really enjoyed such as the old couple in the middle of nowhere, but the ending was a bit of disappointment to myself.

Don't waste your time with Inception, at times it's completely incomprehensible. Scott Pilgrim vs the World is another really bad film.

I loved Inception. An older movie that is good is August Rush. It's more of a family movie but I really liked it.

Bando, track down a copy of The Quiet Earth if you can

the official trailer pretty much gives the entire film away but it explores the idea of one man waking up on an empty Earth.

I rented a movie last week...Inception. www.rottentomatoes.com gave it pretty good reviews, and others I have talked to like it...but I gave it 15 minutes, and I couldn't get into it.

So...two thumbs down in my opinion.

Bando, buddy: for some reason, that movie REALLY hit me the right way, and I also enjoyed it an awful lot....

as a lifetime keyboard player, I usually relate to all of these type of movies...anything regarding the composing, performance or recording of music , is right up my alley....

Jeff has come a long way as an actor.....

There is a sequel coming out. Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence). It's supposed to be even more disturbing.

    SPOILER ALERT

I kinda fwded through the slow parts but yeah...
I think what makes the movie so crazy is that feeling of despair. Like, if even if they do escape from this guy, they're still pretty much screwed no matter how you slice it [no pun intended]
