the official trailer pretty much gives the entire film away but it explores the idea of one man waking up on an empty Earth.
I got this movie and it's old-timey, rotary phones etc....

    Is there a newer version?

You've obviously never seen "Rocky Horror Motion Picture Show"; "Science Fiction double Feature" (one of the songs in Rocky Horror lists a number of classic sci fi movies.

For something a little different, I'd like to recommend a feature length anime: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. A nice twist on time travel, with an unexpected ending. For the unaware, anime is Japanese cartoons, but they are often serious.

Depends upon the age of the kid. I would say at least 12. Anime spans the spectrum that Hollywood does- everything from "G" to XXX "hentai".

I enjoy anime as much as live action films- Area 88 is a fascinating TV series that is technically accurate, but probably as deep emotionally as Top Gun (minus the sex). As far as the movie I posted, if your kids are middle school or older, they might appreciate it (I get the idea that bullying is a problem in Japanese schools, as it it a subtheme in many movies).

BTW, for all parents out there, "hentai" is a term you should be familiar with- it is cartoon porn- very hard core porn.

Here's a good, "Oh this could be decent, wtf?" movie. It had potential until it explained the backstory, trying to make the hero an antihero, but it just made me wish him and everyone else were eaten by the monster.

Watched "Red" the other night and as much as I wanted to enjoy it, overall the movie stunk. Stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Hellen Mirren, etc.

The movie starts out promising enough but quickly peters out due to the same old tired gag of old retired CIA agents constantly outwitting and kicking the crap out of the young agents. Halfway through the movie I got bored and lost interest and was hoping all the characters would kill each other.

Really? I wanted to see this but have now decided to wait for it on one of the premium channels...they are talking about making a sequel. Kinda like that movie with Malkovich, Pitt, Clooney, and Swinton, cast like that, I thought "Wow, can't go wrong..."obviously it did go so wrong I can't even remember the name of the movie.

Took the wife to see "The Green Hornet" in 3D, I loved it while she just enjoyed it. Had a great storyline that actually makes sense, very nice special effects, tons of action and of course since Seth Rogan is in it comedy as well. The actor who played Kato was brilliant in the role. A few spots were a bit ridiculous but overall I give it a big thumbs up.

BTW the 3D added absolutely nothing to the movie at all. Would have been just as good in standard 2D format. It did add an additional $2 per patron to the films gross though.

Saw "Green Hornet" on the 'net and it was okay. It was a smart thing making Kato the intelligent one instead of Rogan--he's a little over the top for my liking, but it was entertaining enough. Script was poor but the action was good.

Am very looking forward to "Green Lantern." Not a Ryan Reynolds fan by any means, but if the script is good--if it tells the story well without too much wise-assing from Reynolds--then it should be a good fantasy flick. Special effects are a given, but if you don't have a story...

Rented "The American" with George Clooney, what a horrid, wretched, boring waste of time. Has 1 halfway decent sex scene and that's the movies only redeeming quality. Supposed to be a thriller about a contract killer but it seems the director/producer was more concerned with filming in Italian cities vs having an interesting film.

I really enjoyed this movie. There were a few questionable plot holes, but what really detracted the movie for me, was the choice of vikings. These vikings should have been personal trainers at Planet Fitness.

Last night, the Missus and I watched "She's out of my league", and found it very funny. Suprisingly, as we dont usually go for the young RomCom type movies.

We followed that one up with "Repo Men". About halfway through, I realized I was checking online forums, and the wife was ********ing with some friends. Not a particularly engaging movie. I caught the twist as soon as it happened, and that made the movie just suck outright.

We finished the evening off with an episode of Primeval.

Oh, and I watched "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid", with Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. Some of the best one liners I've heard in a SyFy movie, to date!

Watched Legion on Netflix. Damn good movie. Good acting, interesting story, great action, decent amount of creepiness. Definitely worth the time. And for those that don't have Netflix...best 7.99 a month you'll ever spend

I'll have to give it another try, gave up after 10 minutes the first time I tried to watch it.

Finished The Quiet Earth last night, last man on earth type of flick, a bit dated but the characters were interesting and I liked the ending.

If High Noon hadn't been made, Outland wouldn't have had an ass to kick.

I usually agree with you, but definitely not on this one. I thought it was terrible. The story made no sense, the acting was horrible, and the action was few and far between.

The scene with the old lady at the beginning was very well done.

I really enjoyed Outlander; Outland is also quite excellent. You can never have enough flicks about a Scottish space marshal that gets sent to the moons of Jupiter to investigate murders in the mines.

x2. That movie was so hard to set through. That scene with the old woman was the only cool scene.

Watched Open Season with my kid yesterday. Snow day. How did I miss this one. What a great movie. Kids movies today are great, as they always have some adult humor weaved in there. If you have kids, see this movie.

I agree. "Legion," was one of those movies I was very glad I did not pay for. Have you seen the trailers for "Priest,"? Basically looks like the same movie with the same people.
