Olympic dumbbell or standard spin locks?

I have two olympic weight sets already, so that should be enough weight. But if I wanted to buy quality Olympic dumbbells, they would cost around 80-100 with good collars. Craigslist doesn't seem to have anything other than Gold's cheap 50-lb max ones.

I could continue my standard weights but would also need new handles (but would save about $50). I also only have a limited number of plates (6x10, 6x5, 4x2.5 and 2 massive 25s that wouldn't be suitable for DB).

So should I sell my standard set and use that money to go all Olympic? Or just buy some handles and weights for the spinlocks?

    Cap dumbbells

I was looking at the cap olympic dumbbells (OB-20) on amazon and the picture included collars but the description does not mention them. Does anyone know if they are actually included?

    amazon.com/Cap-Barbell-20-Inch-Dumbbell-Handle/dp/B002OF1S3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1293767940&sr=1-1

Also looks like this ebay listing, but not sure. I'm emailing the seller on ebay, but haven't gotten a response yet.

    cgi.ebay.com/olympic-dumbbell-handle-/170583598556?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b793 25dc#ht_500wt_1156

    "olympic dumbell handle
    missing one plastic end
    works fine
    free shipping"

Not sure if cap dumbbells have the "plastic end piece". Any help would be great. Thanks!

i prefer dumbells to a barbell but if you have a rack you could buy standard plates and use some power hooks to lift heavier. If the pain of using a kick off is too much with standard dumbells then buy the power hooks.
Standard dumbells will get the job done.Dont bother getting all of these expensive adjustable dumbells or olympic dumbell handles.I would advise if you choose to use standard handles then buy ones that are at least 18 inches long .The standard size is 14 inches and you can really only fit up to around 70lbs o it whereas the 18 inch handles can hold up to 120lbs.Just food for thought

Go with the pre loaded olympic dumbbell. These dumbbells I use at home and have put up to 4 -25lb plates on each side giving me 200lb dumbbell's

If you already have olympic weights I would go with the olympic dumbbells. I have a set and the only thing I don't like about them is they are a little long.

Wouldn't Olympic dumbbells be somewhat dangerous? I wouldn't be too confident holding a 100lb dumbbell over my face with the way they are fastened, no matter how good the collars are.
