Im sure youve all seen the arguments between kennedy , dbx and I about new people , low rep people , negs , sayin rude things in PR threads and the like. The end results are that the ov35 shouldnt go neg wacko and should stick up for its own.
Thought I would aware you of this ...
This guy says things in Flexs deadlift PR thread and went on about his form and wanting to arm wrestle with several members. Im sure you remember lol
Then he leaves this comment in our ov35 deadlift comp thread yesterday.
Obvious zing on our resident canadian lifter ...
Followed it up with this earlier today in the exercise deadlift 101 thread posting his PR vid ...
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...&postcount=382
and then this thread also earlier today reposting Flexs vid and talkin smack ...
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=130190183
and then the same guy makes a seperate thread in the exercise forum diggin on Flex again and reposting his vid for the third time ...
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=130211273
Im not saying we should go neg crazy as thats against the rules but hows about we stick up for an ov35 brother a little bit and at least throw some "back up" posts out there in those threads.
BTW Flex is aware and has responded in a few of those threads but I would like to see the "sticking together" of the ov35 thats always mentioned really happen ... Ive already been in those threads now its you guys turn.

The moron has 41 posts and will likely abandon that screen name for a new one within a few days. Wouldn't we be best served ignoring these obvious trolls? Flex is a big boy and I'm sure he's not letting such petty BS affect him!
As with our own Porker, attention is what they want, red, green, postitive, or negative. When they stop getting a reaction I think they will go looking for new forums to troll.
I guess the advantage of being O35 is long ago realizing that these kind of people just don't matter!!

IMHO the most mature "over 35" way to deal with this is report it to the mods and let them deal with it.
I like Flex, he's not only a fellow lifter but my Canadian brother but the over 35 isn't an army unto themselves.
and btw "I disapprove"d that forum member's post.

Then you didnt see his responses to the guy lol he sure seemed mad to me.
Thats what I told him earlier today too but then the kid went and made another thread ... 3 vid reposts in a row and a special thread just for him is kinda pushin it , troll or not.

Yeah, I did read the linked threads and maybe I'm wrong but I'm guessing he's more annoyed then actually angry. If Flex is truly upset by this then shame on him, I wouldn't think a guy who moves the amount of weight he does would be bothered by some pathetic troll!
The bottom line here Steve, is how do we best deal with someone who's only purpose is trying to generate a negative reaction. I say it's best to give them nothing, only then will they get bored with their pathetic lives and move on from ours!!
I do understand your desire to band together and fight this kind of BS, but it's a war that cannot be won in an Internet forum environment. Unfortunate, but reality! We just have to be the adults here...

I prefer leaving the discipline to the mods- I don't even waste my skittles on the pig. Agreed, though, we do need to watch each others backs.

Thing is, if we start "gang-negging" on trolls (RP is an exception) then we're really no better than the trolls themselves. I doubt FLEX is all that upset over it. I've seen his vids and he delivers. People can carp about little things he may have wrong, but from what I've seen he really can't be faulted on any one thing.
I'd have to agree with Hoch; let the Mods sort out the stuff. I'm sure they're aware of what's going on and ultimately, the decision to ban lies with them. (However, I still reserve my right to neg really ridiculous trolls)."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com

maybe it`s just me but I didn`t read steve`s post as a battle cry to go to war with the guy, but more as a request for back up to flex. What would be so terrible about going into those threads and praise flex? A "hey man that`s some serious weight. Always an inspiration to see. GJDM" type of post. You don`t have to bash anyone or give attention to anyone to back a guy up.
BTW good job FLEX!

^^ Agreed. Arguing with a troll is really kinda pointless. We all know he is just trollin', Flex knows he is trollin', and so arguing with him over the finer points of deadlift form, or proper decorum in a PR thread is really a waste of time. The best way we can give support is to recognize accomplishments and give props where due. Going tit for tat with trolls is truly a waste of time and energy.

lol no , I just saw you posted in that thread and was comin back to edit my post ... ya beat me to it
Thats in no way shape or form what I was suggesting .... facepalm.

you didnt look at his responses did ya ???

Trollin' is one thing, but this is a little beyond, IMHO.
The little fuktard posting stupid comments in my PR thread and the O35 comp thread are half expected, but posting my PR vid in 3 different places on this forum asking people "doesn't this form suck?" is beyond trolling.
Anyway, thanks Steve.
I agree arguing the finer points of deadlifting wiht this moron is pointless, but I don't think this behaviour should be allowed on the forums.
I reported his posts and they're still there.

Actually, no, *STEVE*, I did not bother reading the threads nor the fuktard's posts until just now, and no, I wasn't suggesting that YOU were saying gang-neg the idiots. I should have been a little clearer in my prior post so I'll give myself a facial smack and leave it at that. My personal opinion is that FLEX is doing fine just as he is, so even if the little fuktard did go overboard--and IMO he did--then all one can do is report it.
Stuff like this used to bother me; there are other things to get more upset over, like the fact that the Yankees didn't make the World Series this year. If someone went over the line, I would just report him and leave it at that. That's the job of the mods to take care of useless trash-trolls."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. I think "FLEX" is a douchebag, and I've told him so. He has returned that thought and "negged" me numerous times...I have never bothered to "neg" him back.
I have also told FLEX (I feel silly typing the silly all caps name, but I'm doing it to illustrate my point) that I respect his training. I have complimented him about his form and strength. (He posts about these things ad nauseum (which makes sense, since this is a bodybuilding site.)
Along with you folks, I have spent DECADES in the iron game. I've seen and heard it all. (So have most of you.) WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS SAY? Some troll says "Your form sucks" or "You look like ****," and we're supposed to care?
Here's the bottom line. WE are the experts. I know weight training almost better than I know anything else. Now, I've never gone in for the diet stuff, and I can ALWAYS learn more about training...but I'll never give a crap less about what some internet stranger has to say about lifting...and folks on the level of Steve, DBX, Bodyhard, FLEX...and a TON of other Iron Rats that haunt this place shouldn't worry either.
WE ARE THE ELITE of this "sport." Face it. It's true.
Now...the point about "standing up for each other" is a different point, and, where I see the chance...or need to do so....I do. I know it's nice when someone has my back (and, yes, I also know that I'm good with words and can be brutally honest about things when the subject arises.) So, yeah, I'll stand up for any of you on the subject of weight training or anything else where I agree and respect you. I ALSO hope we can all keep the littlr trolls in their place.
Frankly, I rarely post in a troll thread. I don't see the point.
Have a great day!Envy is ignorance. Imitation is suicide.

Who are you, and what did you do with Steve?
I agree with you on all counts, and well said. I also agree with having each others backs.....when we deem it appropriate. But this is something that's done via "autopilot", so to speak. Those of us who aren't afraid to be vocal do it all the time! (srs) However, when you start a thread about it, it's not longer about letting people's normal nature handle business, and it indeed, becomes mob mentality. It's simply a bad idea. You're either the kind of person who has his/her amigo's back (when you deem it necessary...as in.. individual discretion), or you're not. It's that simple. Anything "coordinated" is phony from jump street.
We've all been here long enough to know that when someone posts a pic, video or even changes their avatar, that it's open game for scrutiny. Fair or not, it is what it is. It has to be a mod's call to actually ban someone for what they say or do.
The hard part is....determining whether someone is intentionally being malicious, and that's not always easy. People really do have different opinions (as you all know) on "form", "ROM, etc., and many aren't afraid to comment (read brutal, lol)...which again, is fair game here. Anyone who is going to post such things had better grow some thick skin. If you don't have it, don't post it. Criticism, both positive and negative, can be absolutely brutal here. You have to be prepared for anything....but you also shouldn't have to tolerate everything .
Jim, I've not seen the posts being mentioned here (haven't looked), but if the guy is that obvious of a troll...and posting your vids in multiple places and then bashing you (where it's clearly malicious), then a MOD damn sure ought to ban the a$$hole! I don't even go in the journal section ever since I had mine deleted a few years ago and then took a break, but you can rest assured, I'd have your (or anyone else here) back if I saw something I perceived as malicious being directed toward an honest effort you were sharing with everyone.
Many of us "know" each other, so trust me when I say that we "protect our own" every day around the forums. I truly think that many here are just oblivious to it. Some of the most epic threads here? Yep, pretty much a bunch of alike minds acting as one. It's a lot cooler when you don't even have to say anything .Last edited by dbx; 12-23-2010 at 08:03 AM.

Thanks.
LMAO.
I think it's hilarious that you continue to berate me both in public on the open forum and privately via PM when I have done absolutely nothing to you, yet you hold yourself in such high regard because you've never 'negged' me.
Yeah; I posted pics of my car, my GF, my vacation, and a couple graduation pics (all in the appropriate 'Off Topic' threads), just like lots of other members here. If that makes me a "douchebag" in your eyes I'm perfectly OK with that.
True, you did on at least one occassion that I recall. So...uhhhh....thanks, I guess?
Oh the pressure!!!!
I can handle criticism. IMHO this was above and beyond that.
But anyway.......

This. Personally, I have no problem negging a proven troublemaker. I won't waste one of my 5 daily reps on them unless they're still in the green. If they're already at the scum rank, I save my rep.
IMO, the problem is when some poor noob shows up and one of the popular members jumps to the conclusion that he's a troublemaker. Like ...Kennedy, if I think he's been unfairly judged, I'll put him back into the green. For what it's worth, I have never regretted doing this by later discovering that the guy really is a troll.
I normally don't do this but I'm going to use Bird72 as an example because he and I have become decent e-friends. English is not his native tongue and he caught hell from this forum with his first few posts. Granted, due to the language barrier, he didn't sound too intelligent but he didn't deserve to be brutally negged for his lack of English comprehension. I can only imagine how I'd come across on a Spanish language forum. I repped him back into the green and haven't regretted it.

I get that it is the internet, but because it is the internet doesn't mean it sucks "less" to see negative stuff. See, I post on here as I would irl.
I would say that if it means nothing because it is on the internet, then it ought to mean nothing if someone were to say it directly to someone's face.
I suspect not many would agree with me, because many seem to believe that because it is on a computer screen, it somehow is different.
What it does is give folks an excuse to treat others like a POS.If you poke a bear in the eye, expect a bear like response.

I think if you ignore people who upset you, it's easier. And when you ignore, then they 'naturally' just go away. Negs, and so on...I mean they mean something, but to someone who just wants to stir a pot...I don't think it does. So, my advice...just ignore the person who irritates you.
