Been snowboarding twice so far this season. Last time I went was 10 years ago, did it somewhat often but was never good; I had a hard time 'linking' my carves. I can do it now, but am pretty fearful of linking them at high speeds. Anytime I carve toe side (I'm regular by the way) it's a super wide carve and I usually have to put my arm down as I almost fall down; I think this is due to the speed I'm going. I think that I won't have any control of what I'll be able to do at that speed and that I could potentially crash pretty bad. When I'm going somewhat slower, I can do it fine for the most part.
Any tips from more experienced boarders?

Nope.. Thought it may be now.
Got there, and only top half of Goryu had snow. Gondola was open but everything was pretty chit up there.
HOwever that night the base got about 20cm, and the top got even more. Was a decent day of riding that next day. Managed to find some nice fluff to ride in, but only about 40% of of Goryu was open.
It snowed all fkin day though and all night, and the whole area got dumped on. Cortina probably opened but we stayed at Goryu as our loding was only 20mins from there, and another 30 from Cortina.
Rode about half the day today and then drove back home.
May hit up Nozowa for New Years and gonna be up in Niseko in Feb.. Can't wait for that trip. Going to be staying in a lodge thats out in the middle of all the pow.**MISC STRENGTH CREW**

Jelly of West Coast brahs getting some snow. I lived at Alpine Meadows for 5 years and miss it.
Trying to identify a hidden gem for a budget ski R&R this February. I'm in Iraq, thinking about Slovenia, Slovakia, Sarajevo, or even Central Asia. The biggest criteria are likelihood of good pow, not nightlife, infrastructure, sloots, etc.
Any advice skibrahs?"I love the misc. Without the misc, all of this craziness would seem like a bad thing." - catbrah

Why not come to Japan?
There are still what I consider to be hidden gems in the Nagano area that aren't traveled to by most westerners, or vacationers, or just go with the obvious and hit up something in the North.
Feb is prime powder riding, and I myself will probably be up there.
Most places will be crowded Saturdays and especially Sundays, no matter where you go, but weekday will have open lift lines and lines that haven't been touched by any recent snowfall.**MISC STRENGTH CREW**

3 Trails are now opened after the Texas storm reached up to Canada, and dumped snow north of Toronto. it will be good for next 2 weeks. Weather predicts 1cm - 3cm of snow almost everyday until January 13th
The resort i always ski at installed RFID scanners. how does that work? The lift operators would check passes manually before letting ppl que up for the chairlifts

Since it's a softer board I'd pair it with some softer flex bindings. Maybe some Burton Malavitas, Union Contact Pros, K2 Lien FS. in my opinion, you can't go wrong with Burton bindings. Best in the game.
Heading to Colorado (Copper) for a week on Jan 18th if anyone wants to rip. Hopefully there is a storm or two before my arrival.lilliiilliiliilliililliil

Blue Mountain?
I used to live in Toronto, but now I hit up Whistler every couple weeks and go to local mountains at least every weekend to get my fix
RFID - you activate the card with guest services/ticketing, you keep the RFID card in a pocket on the side of your body that will be closest to the scanner.
You approach the turnsile and once the RFID card is close enough to the scanner, it automatically verifies and you proceed.
Similar to a PRESTO transit card

Was in Whistler last year. Wrong season to go. Fuark. Getting puked on this season. Jealous.
Anyway, board recs. Are you brand loyal or cool with anything?
Need to know whether you ride switch or not, and what kinda riding you'll be doing with it. Lots of factors go into the board you choose.
Give me a little more info and I'll toss some board ideas your way.lilliiilliiliilliililliil

Ya man, last season was absolutely terrible.. I remember mid-February there was a massive pool of water surrounding the gondola that was situated at least half way up the mountain !!
So far most of my gear is Burton, but I'm open to buying different brands. I hear good things about the Union Force bindings?
I'm practising switch, but I am not very good at it yet. This season I've been working a lot on my ground tricks (butters, tail press, nose press 360)
I'm not really into park riding, I prefer to just carve down the mountain, do a couple jumps off the features on the side of the mountain, whip out a couple ground tricks, and have a nice and mellow ride
Do you think a softer board would be beneficial?

A softer board is good for playing around on.
But for what you described that you want to do, your Process is ideal for that. So, I don't think you need another board in my opinion. You also have a twin, which is ideal for practicing switch on.
I have never used Union Forces before, so I can't accurately comment.lilliiilliiliilliililliil

Just spent the week in Steamboat, Colorado getting some time on the mountain. 4 days (and even a night) of snowboarding. United Airlines broke my Burton board so I had to rent a Jones board. I enjoyed it though, the camber-rocker combo is the way to go for me I think.
I live in driving distance to Shasta, Alpine, Northstar, Sugar-bowl and a bunch of other places in California. Big snow season, super pumped, been a few times this year already. About to get a "Pick your Line" board from a friend. Anyone have experience with them?
