It's what we're programmed to do. In the end we're just animals. Only difference is they have it right, all they want to do is eat, drink, sleep, and try to survive long enough so they can reproduce. For some reason instead of doing what they do, we think we have to have a "higher purpose" as to why we're here. Why do you think almost every parent says they didn't have meaning in their life until they had kids? Cause that's what we're supposed to do. Do whatever makes you happy, pop out a kid or two, then go die like every other human being on this earth before you has done.

Alot of generic and predictable answers in this thread. I suppose that is all there is to it. It must be about perception. Perhaps I should give in to the masses and mindlessly watch Jersey Shore... and then pretend I am a cast member of Jersey Shore at a club so that I can sway the minds of childish women to sleep with me. This must be so rewarding.

The only answer I can come up with, is that I have to. I know that my family will be sad if I do not appear to be doing well. Feels numb man. Our life is less than a vapor... gone so quickly, and eventually, forever forgotten. There is no afterlife, there is simply returning to the universe in a form of energy. It is both sad and beautiful at the same time.

I would enjoy seeing others with real responses put in their 2 cents.

Who is to say a playmate is what I want, or what I need? Why is she beautiful to most? Media? I have fought in a war, made a total body transformation, been in and obviously out of a religion, found a secure job, given money to the homeless etc. When it is all said and done, what is the purpose of it all? If I am simply going to repeat the process as you say... that would be the definition of insanity as I would be acheiving the same result over and over... a temporary, ending result.

If his is weak please enlighten us as to why your reality isn't mindless and predictable.

Have fun repeating the process until you die.

OP isn't looking for answers like "to make money" and "to bang bishes". He's looking for an actual meaningful meaning to life, but the fact is he won't get an answer he likes because there isn't an answer.

    This

The only real reason I get up is to see my friends throughout the day. When I do sleep in, I feel like a loser. When I think about what other people said on this thread, I just wanna lay in bed all day. But a have to make my miserable life better somehow wheither that be by fapping, call of duty,Facebook, school, work, and who knows I might even get some sex.

Because ultimately you get more happiness from having a sense of achievement than from comfort. And by the same token, the feeling of guilt you have when you're lazy is worse than the pain you go through when you bust your ass.

Man... life is a video game. You have to troll some moments for twisted pleasure... you have to work and improve yourself and experiment in all your interests.. you have to be constructive and give your body and mind challenges, so that when you fall asleep and dream, you know you'll wake up the next day better adapted and closer to your goal. Then see where that goes.

The goal in life is to improve. If you're not, you're going no where, or regressing. It's a constant battle, but take pleasure in the challenge. Pain is pleasure my friend.

so to answer the question.. to create!

I was thinking about how corporations have mission statements. A statement of what they are in business for, what they value and how they set goals based on that.

It's like starting out on a trip but not really knowing where you are going so you just wander aimlessly. Sometimes you end up in a place and figure well here I am so this is it and then look back and realize there were so many other places you could have gone.

In pondering this. I realized I needed a mission statement for my life. What are your Dreams, Ambitions. What inspires you. A mission statement defines not only what you want to do or have in life but Who You Want to Be. Then you chart your course and set sail based on that mission statement.

I ask this question most mornings, and the only answer I can come up with is that its so I can continue to exist.

One of the benefits of our society is, is that for most of us, survival is pretty much a given. When is the last time you hate to fight for food, water, or shelter? Chances are, most of us have never had to. Yet we still have that ambition, that innate desire to achieve something, and since our primary goals in life (survival) are so easy to aquire, we need an abundance of secondary goals in life. These secondary goals can take the form of our jobs, studies, and hobbies. If we are applying our survival ambition onto other things in our lives, the illusion of happiness is created.

So basically, if you are a person who likes to be idle and thinks: "what is the point in all this?" don't. Just keep busy, pick a goal, and work to achieve it -- whatever it may be.

One of my goals I set for myself is to design an animated series. I am learning flash animation now and loving it. I felt that same misery creep up when the alarm clock went off, and I dreaded the day to come; but then I remembered that I could just continue learning new techniques in Flash which would get me closer to one of my goals, and I felt better instantly.

I think the bottom line is that we all have an innate desire to survive. If we are idle in our lives, we are not properly utilizing a vital function that we evolved with. The key is to apply that survival instinct onto other areas of our lives. I am learning how to do this myself, instead of being cynical all the time.

In a twisted way, this thread is comforting. None of us have a solid answer, and every answer has been a predictable cliche. I do not say this to insult any of you, but to show that I have the same answer... which is no answer.
