    overhead pressing - unnatural?

its hard for me to believe that an upward push is a 'normal' body movement.

    what do you think?

I think its a perfectly natural movement but that all depends on how one defines a "normal" body movement.
A lot of sports specific training routines utilize standing overhead presses and I've heard Mark Rippetoe say that for football training, the overhead press is probably of better use than the bench press.

LOL. Lifting weights isn't natural. Driving a car isn't natural. Going into outer space isn't natural.

Who gives a flying ****. Overhead pressing works your shoulders and triceps, which is useful if you are trying to make you shoulders and triceps bigger/stronger.

IMO the three most natural movements in all of weightlifting are the overhead press, the deadlift, and the pull up. Lifting something over your head, picking something up off the ground, and lifting yourself up to something, what's more natural than those?

Certainly more natural than laying on a board and pushing something away from yourself.

when we were without forklift trucks and what not im sure we used overhead pressing movements to lift rocks and such like, to pass things from one person to another, to carry things when wading through water, and so on.

    yes i believe its natural.

OP ever do ANY form of manual labor? Especially carpentry, construction or welding?

Hell, ever put something on a high shelf (or take something off)? Ever change a lightbulb?

the OHP is possibly one of the most natural/functional lifts there is.

Honestly, most of movements in bodybuilding don't reflect a "natural" course of muscular development.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

    Squatting.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.
