Questions about winter sports to stay in shape

Well I play football in the fall baseball spring/summer and normal just lift in the winter but I was thinking wouldn't it be smarter to pick up another sport? I use to play basketball but I was never good and I was considering possibly boxing during the winter season? Anyone else think this is a good idea? Any other options or suggestions?

Pick up nordic skiing. I've heard it referred to as the most physically demanding sport there is.
    GOMAD!
