    I would say american football and ice hockey. These guys are huge, strong, fast, and quick. I think that soccer players are good athletes, but they don't have all of the attributes of the sports i mentioned.

    But Ronaldo to me may have been good once, but every performance I've sen him from him, he has either:
    * dived, in every one
    * cheated in some way (getting Rooney sent off for an accident)
    * shown disresepct (the wink, spitting into the camera)

    of course, I won't deny his control of the ball is good, but when you look at people like Gareth Bale, who absolutely destroyed Maicon and the rest of Inter Milan single handedly - and the fact he comes from a nation VERY similar to New Zealand (in that, they all see that ball and immediatly feel like picking it up and running with it) - that to me, shows a true athletic gift.

    I won't lie, I only have taken soccer as a serious sport since September, when I scored my first hat trick in my first game.

    Try going up the Ventoux.

    LMAO, he has no idea how good he is then.

    When you beat Maicon 8 times, score a last minute hat trick, set up what could be at least 5 goals and come from Wales - your good.

    He used to play union and when season 2 of the competition was on he was still playing for the Waratahs. He went from league to union and back to league. He would probably do better in the competition if he entered it again now because he would be fitter from league training.

    Before I would've agreed that NFL players like Adrian Peterson or Patrick Willis were the best overall athletes, but I must say Bryan Clay is beast. The guy has to be up there as fittest man in the world.

    honestly I believe it is very difficult to truly pick which sport has the best athletes. Of course everyone will have their favorites but there will always be someone in one sport that can beat someone of a another sport in at least one thing. All professional athletes are great at what they do its why they are professionals.
    Bench Press {Aug 9th - 168lbs*}{Nov 9th - 202*}{Goal - 225}
    Squat {Aug 11th - 247*}{Nov 26th - 400*}{Goal - 500}

    400lbs squat goal - Nov 26th

    It depends on your definition of best athlete. for me, the best athletes are the people with the best muscle control. If you can't control your muscles fully, then everything else doesn't really matter. gymnastics, dancers, and martial artists.

    People saying Decatthletes but they couldnt pick up a rugby ball and start playing rugby look at the 100m sprinter Dwayne Johnson who tried playing rugby league for castleford got his arse handed to him.

    This thread is about the best athlete which in my opinion means the athelte who would dominate most sports, not just do well in one sport. Rugby Legaue players could compete in most sports which was proven when Billy Slater dominated 2 seasons of Australias best Athelete.

    btw, you will NEVER find a sprinter worth his salt running sub 5 in the 1500, throwing 15+ in the shot, pole vaulting over 5m and doing it all in 2 days plus several more events with little rest.

    Clay is probably fitter than Slater, and I'm not just saying that to make you smash your head into your keyboard, becuase SLater is way fitter than most of these other half assed suggestions, but Clay has proven himself.
    COMPETITION BESTS:
    4kg shot - 13.70m
    5kg shot (U17) - 12.55m
    6kg shot (JUN) - 11.39m
    1.5kg discus (U17) - 32.60m
    1.75kg discus (JUN) - 29.70m
    5kg hammer (U17) - 30.49m (one turn)
    6kg hammer (JUN) - 27.03m (one turn)
    800g javelin (U17) - 20.05m

    AGE - 15

    Want a 16m 6kg throw by next year.

    edit: decathlon
    The modern event is a set combination of athletic disciplines, testing an individual's strength, speed, stamina, endurance and perseverance; it includes five events on each of two successive days. The emphasis of the first day is on speed, explosive power, and jumping ability; the second emphasizes technique and endurance.[citation needed]

    Day 1

    * 100 metres
    * Long jump
    * Shot put
    * High jump
    * 400 metres

    Day 2

    * 110 metres hurdles
    * Discus throw
    * Pole vault
    * Javelin throw
    * 1500 metres

    Exactly, Decathlon. It's almost unhumanly.

    Decathletes/most track and field sports. In fact, I believe the Olympic Gold Medalist Decathlete is considered the best athlete in the world.

    Nfl running backs

    Wrestlers

    Boxers

    ^^^^ You HAVE to have the whole package in those sports^^^^^

    For example lifters have to be strong, distance runners have to be able to run really far(I'm a distance runner myself). But if you don't have, speed, strength, endurance, explosiveness, coordination, balance and flexibility in you're out if you want to be one of the above. I know many powerlifters who are strong as hell but can barely run a few laps around the track, while on the flipside a lot of distance runners (esp some of the people doing 50, 60 70 miles a week and above), have terrible lifting stats, are mediocre sprinters and would get crushed in a sport with heavy man on man contact.

    There are exceptions of course, but that is just my 2 cents.

    its all genetics based....

    doesnt matter what bloody sport they play.
    thats the final answer. ive seen guys good at 1 sport but suck at another....but others good at that 1 sport...plus many others and ive seen it across all sports.

    ... its completely person dependent.
    Do you think they'res a bunch of muscle fibers that are lazy watching TV and eating Doritos and say "nah I'm not going unless good ol' CNS lights itself on fire from overload, then I'll help out." -Khryz :D
