    sports and creatine...?

hey so this is my first year really working in the gym for soccer. i go about 4 or 5 times a week for an hour and a half before school. i started out at about 135 and now i weigh around 145. i am 5'10 so i am pretty light for my height. idealy i would like to probably be somewhere around 160. i have done alot of reading on creatine but have not found alot specific to soccer players using it or many athletes for that matter.
just wondering if any of you have used it for sports and what your results were like. negatives and positives things to watch for ect.
    thanks

I have used Optimum Nutrition's micronized creatine and have had excellent results. I use it with NOW beta-alanine powder, as the two have synergistic effects on each other. Those two will not only help you in the gym, but will also help you with your speed and endurance on the soccer field. Those are the only two supplements I use aside from a multivitamin and protein, and I definitely recommend trying them out.

You will need to up your water intake a lot. If you don't, you will get signs of thirst and dehydration, espcially when you are doing endurance activities.

Creatine works with the creatine phosphate system to supply energy in bursts of 2-3 seconds, so its effects on endurance activities will be minimal.

Its his first post, give him a break. Geesh.

To the OP - you can't go wrong with creatine. I haven't used it since high school, but I'm going to invest in some soon. My muscle endurance is lagging at the moment.

It works great. Just effing nasty.

My advice would be to eat more and lift heavy. Creatine is ok, but it doesn't work miracles.

Creatine is excellent if you need fast recovery, need muscles to get stronger. Your muscles will soak up water because of the creatine. And that will cause you to gain quite a bit a weight. But with creatine use you will need to drink around 4L-6L of water daily.

So basically you want him to drink 192oz or 24 cups of water, dude he only needs 10-12 cups, most people only get 4-6 cups of water a day. Do your math first before saying stuff.
