    junk food pre/post workout?

it's been done, i know, but I can't seem to find a thread about it in the search...

so if i were to eat junk food, is it better to eat it BEFORE i have my workout, or AFTER i do my workout.

not going to be doing this all the time, but there are times where I eat junk food throughout the day when I'm in a rush, so which would be the better time to eat the junk food?

KEEP IN MIND, NOT ALL THE TIME - AND I KNOW I SHOULD BE EATING BETTER FOODS.

But just want to know the answer to this question!

    thanks

either... as long as you don't crash mid workout from a sugar overload before or after are both fine since that's when your body best utilizes carbs. make sure to have some protein too though! sugary cereal + protein powder = win either pre or post w/o for me

Yeah, I was thinking either way could work, seeing as you need carbs pre and post...

I had an ultimate burger meal from KFC

    which is

    large chips
    grilled chicken burger
    3 wicked wings (spicy wings)
and a sugary red milk tea

    feelssickman.

I'm gonna head off to the gym soon, but thinking it might be better to be eating this junk after my workouts as opposed to before...

but yeah, i only know so much - so any other educated answers will be appreciated.

Thing is though, personally a growling stomach when lifting is the worst feeling to me. I focus less on the weights and more on my hunger and food. I almost always eat before to avoid this.

I'm sure moderation before wouldn't be a problem. If the junk food is fast food like mentioned, I'd just eat to avoid the hunger, but not too much to feel sluggish and just want to lie down in bed. Fast food really gets an awful rap. It may not be the best, but it is definitely better than not eating at all.

Personally I would eat it post. Too many times I have eaten junk, then feel a little naseaous, and it throws off my workouts. Too much of lifting is mental, if you want to progress and hit new PRs, etc, its better to have a clear head and feel good.

Back from my workout - and I must say, the first few sets were good, then I started losing all the strength in my arms, and just felt like going home - I soldiered on and finished off my workout, feeling a lot better now.

But I don't think I'll be eating anymore junk food pre-workout, it just makes you feel like absolute ass in the gym.

Ive had junk a few times pre workout, and I concluded that Id much rather keep junk pre-WO than PWO.

if youre bulking eat whatever u want whenever u want... doesnt matter what u eat as long as you get ur proteins/carbs/fat IN TERMS OF MUSCLE/FAT gain. if u ate only 3500 calories from potatos and chicken breast and almonds, ud gain just as much muscle and fat as eating all 3500 from mcdonalds if ur nutrients/macros were the same.

now are u going to feel good eating crap 100% of the time? probably not. but having "crap" here and there isnt going to kill u. and sugar is good post workout for the insulin spike... helps gets nutrients/creatine into ur muscles.

some people feel fine eating junk then working out, but you just found out you didn't, so i'd either avoid it or keep it to the post w/o window.

personally i feel fine eating a tiny or a huge pre w/o meal, my stomach doesn't get phased by anything. makes life convenient

I eat "junk" PWO every time I train. I mix it with FF Greek Yogurt so it balances out.

It depends on what kind of junk we're talking about. If we're talking about a snickers bar or a pint of ice cream then I could still be in a great mood to workout at the top level.

If we're talking about a whole pizza or an entire bag of doritos and a 6 pack, I'll be in no mood to work out.

    ?

I have a somewhat similar question to this is better to eat junk on a rest day or a training day like is the myth true can I cancel out that one bad meal a week by training that day or is it worse for your muscles because they need the nutrients on training days

So it's not even midday yet and I went a bit crazy this morning with high fat foods and lots of calories. Sometimes I just crave tons of chocolate and icecream and whatever sugary. I'm thinking of hitting the gym but I am feeling kinda full and sluggish right now, so might let it settle before going. What's people advice on what to do? Treat today as a cheat day? Try and keep the fat and carbs low for the rest of the day? I'm supposed to be going out for dessert tonight and I'm not sure if it's a great idea after everything I've eaten. 😓 Ugh, help!
