Thanks Jeane. Happy new year to you as well. Luckily, I think the worst has passed, and the best part is I am going to sleep like a baby tonight. Yep, this girl is not staying up til midnight. I might make it to 8, but I seriously doubt it. BUT, still have a workout to get in this afternoon.

I think it was a combination of all the flour carbs, all the cheese, and the amount I ate that did me in. I am doing better now though. But, no pizza for me for a while. I'll stick to sushi.
Thanks hammie McHammerson! I'm interested in my goals for 2013 as well. I need to nail them down. Shiz starts tomorrow. hahahaha.
Thanks Boomer.
And you as well Flex.

I have to stick to it, I am paying for it. lol. I want results, so I gotta do the work! Grace wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. One of my goals this year is to get out of my own way and start just doing work. For me, crossfit forces me just to do work.

Yall are too funny. I ain't gonna lie, for the police academy you have to do pushups and they use a sponge that you have to hit with your chest, and I would say "Thank God for bewbs, I can hit that." lol.

Today's workout: Legs
Now that I am more confident in my squat form and depth, I decided today to go for longer reps. Before, I had been working in the 5 or less rep range. Today we went with sets of 10 and let me just say....it sucked donkey balls!!! I am not sure how my legs are going to feel tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be a different kind of sore. On to the workout:
Back Squats
after warmup
3x10x135
Step ups with bulgarian sand bag
3x8x30lbs each leg
Abs - 2 rounds of
12lb med ball throw - 20 reps
12lb alt med ball twist and throw - 40 reps total
That circuit of abs was F-ing brutal!!!! Just plain terrible. I know Chris was loving it. haha.
I also did another benchmark crossfit workout.
Elizabeth
21-15-9 reps of
95lb Cleans
Ring dips - I used a grey band for assistance
Time: 7:10
Oh, and I forgot I did some cardio in the morning. Some running on treadmill and AMT machine. 25 minutes total.
Nutrition - I didn't have any rice in my 3 meal so I made up for it with 2 sushi rolls (plain salmon and california rolls) at meal 5 instead of 1, although, I really should have stuck to just 1. Too much food at a time. Tomorrow evening I am having my OUvTAMU football party, so it will be a cheat meal for dinner. Nom nom, hamburgers and hot dogs."There's something about a heavy weight that makes a body not want to get under it. 2013 GOALS
As promised, I have finally gotton around to putting my goals for this year out for the world to see. Some are fitness related, others are not. I had to pare down the list, as I wanted to make sure they were important enough for me to really accomplish. Honestly, I would say that these are almost all first-half goals, meaning I hope to obtain/do them within the next 6 months. If there is one thing I have learned, it's that sh!t happens and plans change, so while it's good to look and plan ahead, I'm also realistic that I have no clue what 6 months from now will look like. In no particular order:
Quit Being Scared. Get Out of My Own Way
- This actually is top priority. If I can do this, then the rest of these goals should be a lot easier. All to often, I end up holding myself back, either intentionally or unintentionally. For example, I haven't played indoor soccer in over 6 months, until a couple of weeks ago. Why? Large part, because I was afraid of getting hurt. I have played soccer my whole life, and believe me I have gotton hurt many many many times. But I always bounced back. However, this past year, fear got the better of me in a LOT of aspects of my life, that one being a really good example. It's easier said than done, but basically every day I am telling myself "get out of your own way." Like the nike saying goes, "Just Do It!"
All In on Crossfit
- What this means to me, is that I will quit selectively picking WODS to do or not do, and just do Crossfit. Using goal #1 about fear, I have been afraid to do a lot of the WODS simply because I knew I couldn't do it as prescribed or that I wouldn't have the best female time (at my gym). This is the poorest excuse ever, and I need to stop making excuses. So, that being said, I am going all-in on Crossfit WODs and if that means they have to be modified then so be it, and the next time I do that WOD, I improve. This does not mean I will be abandoning my regular lifting routine, I will just be doing both. Just in this past week, I have done that, and I am feeling great!
Complete 16-week "contest prep" with Jennifer
- I am already at the end of week 3. So far, I am on track with where I want to be. Everything is going good with my nutrition and it's on point. I am curious to see what I look like at the end of 16 weeks. My hope is that I look like a crossfit girl (easiest way I have found to say this). Hopefully, I will by then have enough guts and courage to do a fitness photoshoot.
Obtain either Police or Paramedic
- As of this post, I am still waiting for a phone call from the police department to schedule an interview. If I do well in the interview, then it will be on to the medical/psych/polygraph. I pass that and I am in. The last I heard, the police academy was set to start in late February. This process should start to move more quickly now that the holidays are over, and it's right around the corner. IF, for some reason, I don't get in, Plan B is also already in motion. That is to go down to Dallas, TX and complete the Paramedic program down there. I have already put in my application, and hopefully should get a call from them in the next couple of weeks for a phone interview. If I get in there, that would start in April. Ultimately, my life hangs in the balance right now. This is a really hard time for me mentally and emotionally, because I have soooo much riding on these two career choices. Hopefully, the agony of waiting will be over in a couple of weeks. Regardless, by years end I will either be a police officer or a paramedic. No more of this minimum wage, unfulfilling jobs just to have a job bullish!t!!!!!
Play more Golf
-Don't even think about giving me a hard time on this one. The way I see it is I need a new sport outside of the gym. I enjoy golf a lot. I enjoy the scenery. I just enjoy the game. I also enjoy the fact that it is a sport that is more centered on a skill set versus athleticism. It gives me something to work on. I also think I am actually kind of decent at it. I mean, I can at least hit the ball straight. My initial goal with this would be just to play more. period. If I can get that done, then maybe even take in some coaching clinics, and maybe compete in some local tournaments.
Compete in Crossfit Open/Spartan Race/Adventure Race
-Yes, compete in all 3. The Crossfit Open is in a couple of months and my goal with that is to try and to the workouts as prescribed, and not come in dead last in my area. As for the Spartan Race, my goal would be to do one of the longer ones, which would require traveling, so finances would have to be in order as well. The Adventure Race is something I have always wanted to do. Unfortunately, I live in a sh!tty town that doesn't have anything like that around here and therefore can't form a team. Some adventure races do solo events, but I ain't going into the woods alone. Srs. That is one fear I am not afraid to have and use. That being said, I have wanted to do an adventure race for a very long time, and I need to quite pussyfooting around with it and make it happen. That most likely will mean going down to the Dallas/Austin area and doing something called the Hunstville Hammer. HEY BOOMER29, you in on this??? Srs, I know you and your brother would be awesome at it.
So, that's it in a nutshell. Most of these will happen here in the next few months, so I will probably need to come up with some new goals for the second half of the year. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. This is what I am working on, and will be done!"There's something about a heavy weight that makes a body not want to get under it. Part of the fun of weightlifting is rousing one's spirit and getting under a heavy weight in spite of one's more sensible survival instincts." -Stenn

Good job Mater! Great goals to have! You've come a long way in the couple years or so I've seen you posting here. Have fun with that Crossfit stuff. That would be cruel and unusual punishment for me, lol.
