# Thread: How much can i bench if i do 70 pushups in a row?

1. ## How much can i bench if i do 70 pushups in a row?

Yea i do 70 pushups in a row in under 2 minutes with good form.

I weigh 160 and am 5'10 now. I just don't have access to a gym.

2. Probably not a lot.
Pushups = endurence, at that level.
Bench = strength.

join a gym.

4. I benched 180 but it wasn't a real bench press. It was a machine and the weights were connected to it if you know what i mean

5. I did 77 in a row 10months ago and my max was like 155 then I was super weak, bp has nothing to do with push ups two different exercises they just work the same muscles

6. If you can do 70 pushups you can logically do around 400lb bench press.

Almost. OP weighs around 160; in doing a pushup you move ~2/3 of your BW.

160*(2/3) = 107

Then plug in 107 for 70 reps into Wendler's 1RM calculator

(0.033) * (70) * (107) + 107

around 353lbs bench press. Good luck, OP!

At the lowest position, you are pressing half your bw. at the top you are pressing about 1/3 of bw.

EDIT: but your weight isnt evenly distributed, so thats not accurate either....

Just go with it, brah. OP might try to bench 355.

Wrong. He can bench around 400. It's fact.

15. Here's an idea op - go to the gym and try bench pressing.

.

16. bout 350

17. I just weighed in at 80kg, my hands on the scales in pushup position (halfway down) said 55kg. That's just under 70% bodyweight.

I said 2/3. Therefore, I am smart.

No. Lifting weights might cause him physical discomfort and fatigue. It's better to be safe and just make threads about benching on the internet.

theres no way man, if he dont ever do bench i'd honestly say 185-205. 400 is definitly not right

You're red. I am green.
Therefore I am automatically correct.

You being sarcastic can really fuck somebody up in the gym. We don't appreciate sarcasm 'round here.

26. Endurance =/= Strength therefore Pushups =/= Bench Max

27. Don't listen to the other posters OP, no way you can bench 350 with only 70 pushups. Your max should only be around 265 with 70 pushups. If you want to be able to bench above 300 then I suggest you get your pushups up to about 130.

28. here's how you figure out: Put your rear on a flat bench, throw some weight on, and preform the exercise

Yeah, sorry bout that OP. Forgive my stupidity, go for 400ish, you can get a good 6-8 reps of that most likely, maybe 10 if you're beast
