    Weighing cooked Veggies

    Do you weigh veggies raw before cooking for calculation purposes like meat?

    I find the number of calories I should be getting from raw, dont match the number of calories I would get with the cooked info when I weight them cooked.
    For ex. 10 oz of raw broccoli is supposedly 96 calories
    And 10 oz cooked is 99 calories

    However, if I steam 10oz raw, I get no where near 9.7oz cooked (which should be the equivalent).

    well I realized it cooked down to about 6+oz per 10, so its more like 30-40 calories
    And I generally eat 1lb a day-->50 cal difference.

    This. But to answer your question, If you're eating frozen broccoli, they usually come in 1-2 lb bags, why not just pour the bag (or half if 2 lb) on the plate and not worry about weighing it? i count broccoli into my calories, but I don't weigh it.

    I just dump my veggies in a measuring cup or for potato I use my scale. Unless its a starchy veggie I could care less over one or two calories if I over measured some.
