    Leg Machine Help

    hey guys whats up.

First i have two questions. Is their some where on this forum that i can ask general questions such as the one i am about to answer. Don't want to be posting this stuff on the wrong threads.

Anyways this is about exercises so its somewhat related.

    Question:

I really want to target my legs. Probaly in about 4 exercises. I don't have any machines and can't access the gym. So does anyone know where i can get a machine that can offer me these exercises. I don't really want to spend that much money. But i know to target your legs you do need to use machines. I do the deadlift but that is for your back and some of your legs. Looking for different exercises.

Conclusion: Does anyone know a machine i can buy(whats the machine called) That would get all my leg exercises in one. Sort of like a home gym. But i don't want to pay that much. only 17 years old here lol.
    thanks

power rack + free weights. if you're serious about weight training it'll be the best investment you'll ever make.

lol, you don't need a machine, bro. Even if you buy cheap dumbbells, you can train your legs.

Look at youtube for the following:

    1. dumbbell lunges
    2. dumbbell reverse lunges
    3. goblet squats
    4. dumbbell squats
    5. dumbbell SLDL (stiff leg deadlift)
    6. dumbbell leg curl (use a decline bench or an elevated surface)
    7. dumbbell calf raises

DB's (as mentioned above) or BB's with a simple rack would be sufficient.

Honestly, if you cannot have access to anything else, squats would be fairly effective.

well i have been doing single leg squats. Were i basicall put one leg on a flat bench and just do each legs. I was doing 280lbs. 140lbs on each leg. but i can't really feel the burn. So i am guessing i am not doing them right. I just think that with a machine i can get better results.

Will walking lunges really help your legs

I do not think you can get better results on a machine. Well you'll probably be able to build muscle with both freeweights and machines but the strength you develop squatting will definitely be more applicable than what you develop by doing leg extensions, plus its a whole body exercise as opposed to an isolation.

Seriously, ignore leg machines and get yourself a power cage.

    hey

thanks guys. I was looking around for some power cage. I found some that were about $900 dollars. I saw some on the internet. Are they really this much. I want to pay about 350-400 dollars for mine. Not 900dollars.

Do you think i could find a brand new one on sale maybe for 350-400 dollars. I'm not poor or anything its just that spending 900dollars on one exercise is kind of bogus. Even though squats are extremely important.

But ya appart from the cost. What other exercises could i do with a power cage. I could do pull ups/chinups on it right? As well i could also do calf raises as well with a barbell. Are their are other exercises?

How much should i pay for the power cage
    appreciate the advice
    thanks

With a power cage you can do everything. If you have an adjustable bench, then you can drag it in there and do your bench and shoulder pressing. You can use the power cage for setting up the barbell for lunges, overhead presses and lots of other things. It is a very dynamic piece of equipment.

hey i was thinking about moving my bench press over their as well. Then i never ever have to beg my brother to spot for me again. That would be awesome. I could also do my squats, calf raises, chinups/pull ups. Ya i found a power cage for 400 dollars. Around my $$$ value lol. Anyways it says that the power cage can hold a little less than 500lbs. Which i will never be able to lift anytime soon lol.

Do you know the power cage right, then their are those 2 other bars that go perpendicular to the power cage. Those 2 bars are to make sure that your bench press doesn't fall on you or so you don't hurt yourselve squatting either. I wonder how much i could put on my bench press or squat so i don't bust those 2 bars. Right now i am doing about 220lbs bench pressing. and 250lbs squatting. So i hope those 2 bars will be good to go.

Never owned a power cage before. I am so excited about getting one though.

A quick search for "power rack" yielded many in the 400-450 range. I'm sure you can find cheaper used.
