Week 1: Bedrest
Week 2: Walking
Day 11: CHEST 08/21/10
BB Bench: 45x20, 65x20, 45x20 (these felt alright)
DB Incline: 15'sx5, 10'sx20, 10'sx20 (15 lb DB's made my abdominal area tense up so I stopped)
Pec Deck Flys: 40x20, 50x20, 60x20 (these felt good)
After the gym, my surgical area felt tense and sore. I feel very discouraged. Going from 2 95lb DB's on incline to 10's is embarrassing. I feel depressed. I'm going to hold off on working out until the 4th week.
I will be jogging the 3rd week as prescribed by my surgeon. The reason why I went to the gym today was because my surgeon said it would be alright if I did extremely light weight and to stop immediately if I felt my abs tense up.

Just take it easy bro. I myself am recovering from my second inguinal hernia (in 8 years). Its SUPER easy to aggravate it, and trust me thats the LAST thing you want to do so soon after (if ever at all
)
Don't ever feel embarrased about doing super light weight if you have to. . its better than the alternative.. getting ahead of yourself too soon & going too hard & heavy, and really risking re-injuring yourself or creating complications that might end up being very difficult to diagnose & treat. You think you feel depressed now? Hurt yourself again 3 months after surgery to the point where you can't even sleep. . talk about depression
Hope I don't come off as preaching, just speaking from experience. . I was your age when I caught my first inguinal hernia (L side). Good luck bro, wish you the best!
p.s. - Which side was it? And which repair method did your surgeon use?

Title caught my eye because I had one too and it hurt like a bitch! The doc may have prescribed jogging in the third week but if it hurts badly I would NOT do it. I don't think I was jogging 3 weeks after but by 4 I was lifting things and able to get around fairly ok with only a little pain. Then again my recovery may have been hampered by the fact that I went back to school two days after my op!
Basically just take it really easy because it can get pretty painful! Have fun going to the toilet too :P

After the gym, my surgical area felt a little tense, but not sore this time. My abdominal region had minimal tightness in only a few workouts today. Not enough to stop or really feel anything substantial. I felt a nice pump in my calves and my biceps today. I feel very uplifted and in the game. I went from 45 lbs to 60 lbs this week. I'm going to continue the full body workouts until I get to 100 lbs in each exercise.
