    Pull Ups ?

Would weighted pull ups, chin ups, and dips alone be a good upper body program for a newb ?

Was thinking of doing squats and deadlifts for lower body.

Doing both types of pull-ups in the same workout might be too much, but otherwise you won't be missing much by doing dips, pull-ups/chin-ups, and squats regularly with deadlifts once a week.

I would throw in a couple of sets of pushups with your hands as close to your hips as possible. That would give your shoulders a good workout as well.

No, I would prefer to see some shoulder extension in the horizontal plane - and also some delt and trap work.

It's tempting to make routines as simple as possible because simpler appears to be more elegant - but actually it doesn't gain you anything, in fact it just leaves certain muscles out.

Thanks man. I didn't really know how much the shoulders would get worked with just chins and dips.

I was wondering if it was like squats where a lot of muscles get worked.
