Recommend me some good ass gloves for Muay Thai

Not new to martial arts but new to Muay Thai. I finally found a good gym near by so I'm gonna start going. I want some quality boxing gloves that will last through a ton of abuse. 16oz pls

A lot of people with recommend Faritex, but for the money (quality is virtually the same) you can't go wrong with Twins. I've had several Twins gloves and never a bit of problems.

I liked them for shin/instep. I also liked a pair of Title traditional style shin/instep pads I had too....I think I had a pair of $19.99 Title shin/instep pads that actually worked out pretty nice, but I ended up ripping the cheap straps on them so I upgraded.

lol - I dunno...It's never bothered me much, but off the top of my head...yeah, I believe most do.

If you get more into it, I'd definitely recommend 2 pairs of gloves. 10-12oz for bags/pads and 16oz for sparring

I'm currently using a pair of 16oz Boons for sparring and love them. Twins 16oz gloves are huge and pillowy which can be good for sparring but a bit cumbersome for bags/pads. Boons are a bit more compact but still have plenty of padding. Fairtex aren't awesome for sparring since they have less knuckle padding and are a bit harsh on your partners. I've also heard good things about Top Kings.

As for shinguards I'm partial to (as are most people at my gym) the King/Top King shin guards. I prefer the original King versions since they have padding over the ankle and not just elastic connecting between the foot and shin pad

For bag work, don't worry about spending a crap load of money on bag/pad gloves. Just get whatever $19.99 deal they have. I'm not sure where you're located, but even some POS Everlast gloves you can pick up at Target for 20 bux will work. Just wrap your hands and go to town.

Yes you are right, Twins gloves are the best value for money.

I use Fairtex and they are always recommended because they're easier to clinch with. I tried other brands like Twins, Ringside, etc but went back Fairtex personally. Just grab whatever is comfortable for you imo.

If I recall correctly, padding distribution. MT Gloves have a little more padding distributed on the back of the hand.

What I recommend for bhest Muay Thai Gloves are Fairtex.

I tend to punch the padding out of my Fairtex gloves but the shin guards have lasted me awhile.


I'd reccomend Twins or Yokkao.

I own Venum, Twins and Fairtex. I prefer the Twins by a good margin. Best gloves I have ever owned.
