When? why? and how MUCH Whey Protein??

So I just bought myself some Whey Protein, but im unsure how much protein i should intake in one day?

    18 yrs old (athlete)
    5'10
    155lb

Im looking to gain some more muscle and overall lose some body fat as well to show my results. I know you should take around 1gram of protein per lb of body weight.

    Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein..
    1 scoop = 150 calories
    24g protein

So how many scoops a day should i really be taking? and when? (just after my workout?)

I would say about 6 scoops a day and that'll get you roughly your 1gram/lb of your bodyweight. ;-)

Guys....well, it is 1 gram of protein per 1lb of LEAN body weight, that means not the fat, so calculate how much fat % u got and edge that out, not all your protein should of from whey. Just examin how much protein on average u eat and complete it with some whey protein to get the number you need, also adjust this from day to day, but always take some after a work out, becouse the ingrediance in that specific type of whey will help u recover and build muscle.

You need ~1,7gr/kg. That's the total protein from the food and supplements. 120-150gr per day. Assuming you get 100 plus from food alone 2-3 scoops spread out through the day is plenty. When you workout, get at least 1 scoop after the workout with some carbs to get things going. As you put on weight adjust accordingly
    Scream for me

Companies I tried their products and support: Thermolife, Xtreme Formulations, AEN, Primaforce and Scivation.

take a serve of whey upon waking and a serve post workout.
reason: whey is fast digesting and these times are when it is needed most

you should be getting the rest of your daily protein through real food if possible
