    Ice Bath

I didn't know which category was the most appropriate, so I figured I'd ask here.

I hear nothing but great things about ice baths and recovery, so I wanted to see if anybody here knew anything about them. How to go about it, approximately how many bags of ice would be needed, how long should I stay in for, is there something specific I should do when I get out? etc.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I had soaked my whole leg (just to get my knee in) an ice bath a couple of times. Stayed in for about 15 minutes each time. I don't think you want to go longer than 20. I don't think there's anything in particular you'll want to do when you get out. You'll walk a little funny at first cause your legs will be numb, but you'll be okay.
    pwnt.

Not rocket science man, just a bunch of ice and water. for your whole body you will need big trash can. 2 or 3 bags of ice should do it.

Alright thanks guys. I just watched Tito Ortiz & Big Nog do it. Tito Screamed while Nog didn't even flinch. I guess some guys can take it better than others.

    Thanks for the tips.

The amount of ice you use depends on the size of your bath but 4-6 bags should be alright. Submerge your entire body from the neck down and lay in there for about 10 minutes. Feels good man.

its best if you got a thermometer to check. but 55 degrees is about the minimum. in fact ive read you can get into water as warm as 70 and still get the same benefits. personally if im not numb then im staying in longer haha. also time wise its usually 10-12 minutes. no need to go longer.

I don't put ice, I just get the water extremly cold anyways. I'm too tall for mine so I have to switch off between legs and upper body hah but I'll stay in like 15mins or so.

I personally like contrast showers better, that's just me though.

Also if you can't take it, just imagine that you're jumping into a pool and that usually calms your mind.

I've been practicing cold water immersion / ice baths / cold plunges for a bit of time now and love the way I feel afterwards and how my body responds. Found some interesting articles on the website AquaChill.us that talks about the science behind it.
