To bench 405, it takes time, consistency, good enough genetics/leverages, and good programming. Not everyone who trains hard to get a big bench will bench 405. Bodyweight is another major factor, with more bodyweight comes more weight on the bench, but if you maintain/lose BW, increasing your bench is even more difficult.
Currently at a 162.5kg/358lb bench as a 181lb powerlifter (almost 2xBW), in on the race to 405lbs. Hopefully some time next year at 181Elite Powerlifter

My PR was 275x10. Trying O'Hearn's Power Bodybuilding routine (journal below) so I'll be training for strength for my first time in over 30 years of lifting. 405 would be great but I'm tall with long arms so gotta see if that's possible.

Nice thread we got in here. 405 is a solid goal. I'm try for it in 2018. My best this year was 365 before I started a long cut!

Lifting heavy is great granted that your execution stays on point at all times. Doing 1 plate a side or 4 plates a side, both should look exactly the same. You should control the weight at all times.
I used to lift very light weight to gain complete control over my muscles. With my new coach he is forcing me to go heavier. Maybe I will see you all using 4 plates on a bench press within this year.advertising/promotion not permitted

How many time you bench a week guys?
I'm currently cutting on F5 U/L Intermediate and managing to keep most of my strength, lost 13lb, my bench dropped with only 5lb.
The last workout I did 205x3,4,3
After the cut aiming for massive bulk and a new program with x2 bench and x2 incline db press as accessory.
