i think magicianman's failed 255 was not really a bounce, rather a legit touch. spotter was one of the few one's who really know how to spot.

I didn't feel like starting an argument with Jrahe, but I didn't feel my chest being "hit" by the bar. Rather, I think I just exploded off my chest the moment I touched.
I made such a point back in the day to stop bouncing, that I don't really see how I would've suddenly started up again out of nowhere.
The guy was a great guy and was strong as ****... I witnessed him push pressing 245 and he used to clean and jerk 360+ before his RC injury. Them traps don't lie!
He waited a bit too long to help me, though. Keeping tension for that long on a maximal lift is not a good thing, and you can end up with some really sudden injuries when you go from 100% exertion to 0% that quickly.
Considering I'm okay and no injuries happened, I think that little isometric hold is what's going to get me a 260 bench next week.Training, philosophy, nutrition and biomedical discussion (2.0): http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=146797403

Alright, I want in on this sh**, although I'm a little late on the draw with this one. Lots of great ideas, motivation, and accountability going on in here...luv it. I have been slacking hardcore on my flat bench for the last few years, and this is just what I need to get serious with it again. I plan on increasing my bench while losing about 10 lbs initially...losing weight and gaining strength don't exactly correlate, but f**k it. German volume training is my game plan for the next several months; I used the same program back in high school and it worked like a charm. Here's the basic rundown-
Here's an example of the German Volume Training method with the 4% to 5% method for someone who can bench press 300 lbs 10 times in strict form:
Workout 1: 10 sets of 5 @ 300 lbs
Workout 2: 10 sets of 4 @ 315 lbs
Workout 3: 10 sets of 3 @ 330 lbs
Workout 4: 10 sets of 5 @ 315 lbs
Workout 5: 10 sets of 4 @ 330 lbs
Workout 6: 10 sets of 3 @ 345 lbs
Workout 7:
Test day. At this point, you would bench press 330 lbs for 10 reps.
The complete article is here- bodybuilding.com/fun/luis13.htm ...wtf I can't post links yet? Blah.
Soo...for me, having slacked greatly in flat bench over the last few years...here's what my program is looking like. I began week one this Monday. I figure I can hit 225 for ten strict ones, thus I rolled-
Workout 1: 10 sets of 5 @ 225 lbs
I'm setting my bar kind of low initially with weight, as to work into bench pressing again gradually. The 225 became less forgiving as the sets went on, but I never got close to failure. Very attainable goals is the idea here. If I stick to it and follow this program twice over, I should be at least at a solid 350-355 by mid November. IF I stick to it...I need you cats to help me stay accountable and not puss out on this sh**.Last edited by sonofmorning; 08-25-2010 at 09:42 PM.

[QUOTE=UofACATS;538884693] You'll be happy to know that my PR is now 255lbs. (Previous 250x1)
Nice. You've come up 30lbs. since the beginning of this; gains that no one can complain about. You and Musician are neck and neck. Have you gained any bodyweight with the strength increase or have you pretty much stayed the same? I'm bloody pumped about this forum...can't wait get legs out of the way tomorrow, then depending on how sore my tris are from today...devour chest on Saturday. Didn't get as sore as I anticipated from Monday's chest workout, so may as well start next week early! I'm hungry for this sh**.__________________________________________________________________

[QUOTE=Jrahe42;538993013] That's a product I would buy just cuz it tastes so good. I used to like dumping 2 scoops of NO Explode into a Ripped Force, shakin it up good and pounding it during training. I bought the NO Ex more for flavor in the Ripped Force...didn't think NO Ex did much. Someone gave me a few samples of Jack3d and it's pretty solid. Gets ya goin, boosts focus, gives energy...all the good stuff.
Way too quiet in here...where did all the benchers go?? =(__________________________________________________________________

It was a little tongue-in-cheek because he murders me on every other lift, but it always good to have a little friendly rivalry going.
From my log, I was about 174lbs when I posted here first on July 16th. I'm 179lbs right now. http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showpo...3&postcount=19

Keep it to your deadlift forum pal Did you end up attempting 260 the other day Music?
[QUOTE=Jrahe42;539155753] Destroy that.
Hell yeah it is. I train with 2 beasts and we push the hell outta each other- all about friendly competition. 5lbs bodyweight converted to 30 lbs on bench for ya...good stuff.
Why is it when I quote Jrahe it says I'm quoting myself wtf=/__________________________________________________________________

Rip it up big dog. The plan is to demolish chest when I get up at noon Saturday. This thread has me all psyched for increasing my bench now. I would love to chime in on the deadlift and squat threads you began, but I can't really take either of those lifts seriously until I get this torn acl and meniscus fixed. Keep us posted on your bench if you hit it Saturday chief.

Okay, just finished week 2 of German volume training. Did some tris too, but no one cares about tris in here; bench bench bench! Had some energy left on the last set, so went ape sh** with it. Workout went as follows-
9 sets of 4 @ 235 lbs
1 set of 13 @ 235 lbs
then to put the icing on the cake for chest finished up with dumbbell flyes...
4 sets of 30x12,40x10,50x8,60x6
Felt dynamite today. My boy's 30th bash tonight, so will get sh** faced and take a day off tomorrow to recover from the train wreck I will be recovering from. You beasts keep rippin it up in the weight room and have a killer weekend. In the words of Arnie..."I'll be back"....on Monday=D__________________________________________________________________
