Cramp in Stomach During Core Workout

Recently I've been getting some pretty insane cramps in my stomach during my core workout, namely with crunches and sit-ups. It only started recently, never had a problem like this before. The pain is mainly in my upper abdomen, and it feels like it all moves to one side.

I stopped working out for about a month due to a shoulder and knee injury, if that's of any help. I've not changed my diet, and not taken any different supps.

    Thanks.

Could be strained muscle or just lactic acid. Tough to diagnose with the info you gave.

Any specific exercise or body position where it occurs?

I've had a strain, pull and tear ruled out. I don't get any pain in it whilst walking about, sitting, or during any other exercise apart from crunches or sit-ups.

It's weird for me to get cramp. I'm always hydrated, and warm up and cool down good after each workout.
