    Bulking Sandwich?

Hey guys can you tell me if this is a good meal while bulking? I've been having trouble putting on weight and i've decided to step it up a notch.

    Wholegrain Bread - 200 cals / 2.8g fat / 31.9g carbs / 8.4g protein
    Lite Cottage cheese - 55 cals / 1.5g fat / 2.3g carbs / 7.6g protein
    Chicken - 132 cals / 2.9g fat / 0 carbs / 24.8g protein
    Lite Cheddar (2slices) - 141 cals / 9.9g fat / 0.2g carbs / 12.6g protein
    Avocado - 103 cals / 10.6g fat / 0.3g carbs / 1g protein
    Lite Mayonnaise - 65 cals / 5.7g fat / 3.1g carbs / 0.2g protein
    TOMATO (NEGLIGIBLE)
    Hardboiled Egg - 52 cals / 3.4g fat / 0.1g carbs / 5.2g protein

    748 Calories
    36.8g of Fat
    37.9g of Carbs
    59.8g of Protein

Is this considered a dirty bulk food item?

    Thanks

Its not really dirty per se. It's just fine if your bulking and not really worrying about any calorie restriction.

Generally grams of carbs in a bulking meal will be more than the grams protein, but overall calories are more important. He was strictly asking about his sandwhich though.

Questions like these kind of irritate me. If bread with meat, avocado and egg is considered a "dirty bulk food item", then what isn't?

People have this weird idea that in order to gain muscle/lose fat and eat "clean", you have to eat plain oats for breakfast, chicken breast for lunch and cottage cheese for dinner, with protein shakes in between.

Eat your sandwich if it fits in your macros. Eat ANYTHING if it fits into your macros.
Obsessed is the word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.

If you are having trouble putting wt on, I don't think you should be using anything "lite".... Go with some full fat cottage cheese!

How many of these are you eating for a meal?
Everyone has a six pack. Most people just keep theirs covered.

Seriously. If half the things you eat are lite how are you going to be successful bulking

Besides full fat food there are four things to a successful bulk.

    1) Monitor calorie intake
    2) Peanut butter
    3) Milk
    4) Peanut butter

Hmmm i didnt think that having extra fat in things like cheese and mayo was going to help me bulk. Help me put on fat maybe.... Am I wrong?

That sandwich is one meal. I had a glass of milk with it as well.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I should worry less about what I am eating and just EAT MORE lol

Yes. If you're attempting to gain weight and currently are not, you need to increase your calorie intake. Just because those extra calories are coming from fat doesn't mean you will put on body fat.

I mean, that's true to an extent... There are good fats (fish oil, olive oil, avocado, nuts) and bad fats (margarine, coconut, other tropical oils, even canola and butter). These affect your hormones, brain chemistry, cholesterol, and your susceptibility to disease. I'm most worried about hormones and brain chemistry at this age, so I try to get most of my fat from monounsaturated and polyunsaturated sources.

Here's a desease-focused summary of the different types:

I'd love to find a body-building-focused summary of the effects of mono and poly vs. saturated and trans fats. Anyone?

If you want to eat that, go ahead. But I think it sounds f**king disgusting. Please tell me it isn't all on the sandwich?

And also eating fat does not make you fat. Eating fat helps you synthesize protein, stay sane, and stay satisfied. Full fat cottage cheese on a bulk.

exactly...when you "bulk" you will be at a caloric surplus..meaning you are intaking more calories then you are burning, and those calories (dosnt matter if its from fat protien or carbs) will be stored as fat.

Sure, I agree that there are healthy fats and there are "bad" fats. I just want to make sure the OP does not get in the "eating fats makes you fat" mindset.

Though I thought fats derived from coconut were healthy fats?
