    Eggs

On a lot of the recipes that people include they say about so many egg whites and so many yolks. Why separate them? What are the benifits of not eating the yolk?

Yolk contains fats and cholesterol ,egg whites are only protein.

The protein in the whites, without the additional calories from fat in the yolk. But yes, you're right, eating the whole egg is the better option.

Eating the yolk will not raise your bad cholestrol, its a myth and prooven. Look it up.

The yolk contains ALL of the vitamins and almost half the protein, egg whites contain just protein but no vitamins, taste ****e and are a waste of time.

Anyone who leaves the yolk out need to man up.

Not eating the yolks is like buying a car and throwing out the tires. Or maybe even the engine. There is so much goodness in the yolks that the egg truly is one of nature's perfect foods.

The only reason to add whites is to increase protein while reducing fat and calories. I think it's been pretty much established that the cholesterol in eggs does not have significant impact to serum levels.

Have you even tried omega 3 eggs?

IMO opinion they taste alot better and have richer yolks than regular caged eggs. Its not a waste of money if everyone where to just try 1 carton and then see for themselves

    This ^^^...

Crack a regular egg and an omega 3 egg side by side... The regular egg will have a bright yellow yolk, the omega 3 egg yolk will almost be orange and thicker in consistancy. And yes they taste way better. And for anyone who doesn't have High LDL issues, the high cholesterol in eggs will not affect you serum levels. Eating a high saturated fat diet will on the other hand.

actually, no it wont. Plenty of research showing that its not the saturated fat causing the harm and also many studies showing that they increase HDLs. Processed foods and trans fats is wuts causing the harm, that, along with other factors.

Why do we continue to have these whole vs white threads? Simplified:

Best option: WHOLE! most protein, healthy fats

Next option: Cutting calories but want the extra protein? Eat whites with less yolks or no yolks.

Sorry, just seems like we have one of these every few days because evidently its easier to post a new thread than search.

So if I go eat and eat all the fat that I trim of my tbone my HDL will increase. Don't think so. Moderation is key... bulk of fat calories should come from mono and polyunsaturated fats. Trans fat... yes bad no matter how you look at it.

I've recently switched to organic farm raised eggs and its a whole **** ton better than the stuff thats mass produced for grocery stores. Eggs are larger, bigger yolks, and have more flavor to them. It's clear that the hens laying them are in better health.

Actually i just found out when I went to buy horse stall mats for my rack, that the feed store sells fresh eggs from the chickens that they sell. Basically the feedstore workers just rinse in the sink and pop them in a carton. $2 a dozen.

Yup I found a similar thing. I posted an ad on craigslist and some lady delivers for 2 bucks a dozen. I think she said she has about 150 chickens so she gets quite a few eggs.

I love eggs. My parents recently bought a couple of chickens. They'll be old enough to lay in a few weeks. Can't wait!

Yeah, people could do some digging. Equally effective: if your fed up reading about it - dont. And while your at it why detract value from the conversation when you could just not bother "adding" to it. This is an old and busy forum, but not everyone will have read it all. Some people are new to it, and maybe they have not found answers to their questions.
