Wrist injury that will not heal

Hey.. first I'll start off by saying that I'm 18 y\o
I haven't trained for the last 2 years~ due to a restricting pain in my wrist,
I think I remember what triggered the pain, I basically shoulder pressed 65lb DBs w\o a spotter.
all went smoothly but when I wanted to finish the set, I lost balance and my left hand kind of slipped to the side - for a moment I thought I'm going to dislocate my shoulder.. but something even worse happend, my wrist stretched.
I didn't feel anything at that moment.. I continued to train regularly, finished everything and went to do some cardio and then the pain started to show.. out of nowhere my wrist started to become extremly sore (it didn't swell), I then decided to head home..
I couldn't even turn the friggin door knob that day and for the next 2 days.
I decided to halt the gym subscription and let it heal.. but it wasn't the case
the pain I felt at first was gone and now it's much lighter, I now can use my left hand normally, but when I carry "weight" - like a 20 pound school bag, I get a tingling-burning sensation in my wrist - pinky side.
the more weight I carry the more painful it gets, my assumption is that something's wrong with my TFCC, since it doesn't heal (3 X-rays showed nothing, no bone damage, then it must be something else than a bone..)
anyway, my hand is stable, and still strong, I can ignore the pain, but I don't want to injure myself anymore, my body's a wreck and I'm only 18.
bottom line.. can a TFCC injury become any worse if I start training again?
I won't do free excersises like shoulder presses \ bench presses so the wrist won't stretch again (I'm a wuss but another strech means a tear).. but will any other excersises that might trigger the pain may cause my injury to become any worse? (like DB-BB curls etc)

I've had TFCC surgery. I posted on here a few times replying to some people with wrist pain. If its on the pinky side, it's very possible that it's TFCC. x ray will show negative because TFC is cartilage. You need an mri. My mri showed negative as well but that's because mri's don't catch everything. The doctor then sent me for a bone scan(probably just to see if I was lying about pain) The bone scan showed that i had a lot of swelling in that area so he went in to look around with the opinion of it being TFCC. My suggestion to you is to research and find a "hand specialist" who is a sports doctor. If you're near philadelphia I can give you my doctor. The surgery was very easy with about a 2 month recovery time. Not bad at all. TFCC may or may not heal. If it's deep then there's no blood supply and won't heal. If it's not too deep there's minimal blood supply and can heal. Mine was in 1999. Doc told me no way was it going to heal on its own. Surgery was great and positive results. I re aggrevated it 5 years later but it healed on its own over the next few months because it wasn't deep. If it's TFCC you can stop the pain a few different ways:

    1. conservative(which if its been 2 years, I think you've healed as much as your going to this way)

    2. TFCC surgery/debridgement

    3. partial fusion

    4. full fusion

With fusion you loose some ROM but it's well worth it to get rid of the pain I was having if the TFCC debridgement didn't work.

You can PM me if you have questions.

The thing is my hand functions alright, I got no problems with daily usage, it only gives me mild pain when lifting objects (and not everything, I curled 25 pound DB's at my friend's house and it felt alright - painless, W bar gave me a bit of pain)
Surgery might fail and make things worse, and since my hand is stable I don't plan on doing that.
The question is - if I return to the gym and train through pain - will the injury then become worse than it is now?

this happened to me, went to the doctor, the rude women told me to stop complaining and wasting NHS time so im using wrists straps now and i have to say it is getting better, although it still gets sore after lifting heavy. I plan to take a complete 2 weeks off, if it does not work, im going straight back to the doctor and i will refuse to leave till they fix it!

You know you don't have much options.. if wrapping \ casting fails - then it's surgery (or a cortisone shot and then going on a surgery..)
I suffer from this injury for 2 years now, it just won't heal.

I would suggest staying away from the exercises that hurt it. If straight bar curl aggrevates it then do dumbbell curls. Eventually it may go away. If not, then just stay away from certain things in life. The things you stay away from might not be a big deal.

Wrist injury halting my fitness goal

I'm currently dealing with tendinitis, although now they suspect its my TFCC. It's been ongoing since march of this year and has gotten worse. My plan was to compete this year and well now I've had to stop everything. There certain exercises that aggregate it (push ups, underhand pulldowns..). What would you suggest as far as workouts to lean out? Thanks for any help in advance.

Did I answer your injury question? Please supply the following info: 1) EXACT spot of pain(s)? (put a mark on a picture); 2) what type of pain is it? (burning, radiative, lightning, aching, jamming up, etc); 3) EXACTLY what movement(s) provocate the same pain? Specifics matter!

Holy **** dude, I cannot believe that I've found this thread

25th of july 2016 18 years old, I was benching w/0 spotter, couldn't get the weight up so I lowered it to my waist and hyper extended my LEFT wrist, didn't feel anything at first then decided to pick up a weight and it sent a sharp pain through my wrist, just ended up leaving but worked that night on light loads.
Pain gets crazy, it's like if a wrist had severe doms, but I could tell this was something really bad, it was warm and felt fragile, couldn't rotate it at all, doc said it was just a sprain but here we are now, I can't go hard at the gym, lifting anything over 10kg is slightly painful, anything overhand is a no no, I have to ****ing hammer curl or rope pulldowns, which is very ****ing frusterating, I'm limited from most workouts. I'm not willing to push through it because I've already tried and it just got more painful, I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE TFCC UNTIL TODAY, I've had an xray and an uss but none picked up anything and I was pretty much branded a liar and a cry baby, EVERY ONE AROUND ME THOUGHT I WAS ****ING LAZY AND WANTED AN EXCUSE NOT TO TRAIN, this has to be it, I'm hitting up a wrist specialist and if I need to I'm opting for the ****ing surgery, I can only count myself blessed that I found this thread so, cheers. Will post results
