I just pulled 485lbs for the first time! Feeling amazing!!
I just pulled 485lbs for the first time!
I'll post a video on my channel in a few hours but I'm stoked! My previous PR was 445lbs conventional. I've been incorporating sumo pulls into my program and when I pulled 445lbs sumo style it still felt daunting. I hit 465lbs...then went for 485lbs. On my fb I've been getting feedback that my hips pick up to fast, any suggestions?
Gonna work some lighter weights tomorrow and see if I can nail this technique down and get better leverage on pulling.Deadlift 573lbs August 2014
Bench Press 305lbs (December 2013)
Squat 429lbs Feb 2014
Overhead Press 200lbs (October 2013)

Snatch 155lbs (Feb 2014)

how high did you get it up? time for some rack pull or block pulls! or have you heard of deadlift negatives? Haven't tried the yet because I'm on a body building program, but they're pretty interesting. You basically un-rack a ridiculous amount of weight from the rack then lower and pull. It's called a top down deadlift

I'm in! I pulled 440bs (200kg) for an easy single last week. I think I'm capable of pulling 220kg (484lbs) right now. Just have to add 40kg (88lbs) to my max to get a 6 plate dead.

Starting Elliott Hulse's 5x5, ill begin with the beginner program and then move onto the intermediate by the end of february or after. Up until now i've been just creating my own workouts primarily strength focused with hypertrophy accessory movements at the end and i've only stopped doing this because my max on the deadlift at 3 plates has stalled.
I may post videos if I notice sticking points etc or if i hit any exceptional PR's, which wont be for awhile. Been deadlifting since March of 2013, squatting since septemberish, and benching since christmas.
Anybody else follow Elliott's programs?Current/Goals (end of 2014)

I don't see myself going much over 165 without much fat, but a six plate deadlift would still definitely be attainable, even as a lightweight. I'm in. Just got over a hand injury though (couldn't really pick up hundreds of pounds with a torn tendon), so I'm basically starting back at 185, down from 385, but muscle memory is quite incredible.
Feb 1, 2013 (started getting serious)/Current maxes at bw of 156-162lbs
Bench 205x3 (went back up about two inches before touching chest)/300
Squat 230x5 (half squat)/350 (below parallel)
Deadlift 185x5/475

oh wow this looks cool. soooo im definitely not the biggest deadlifter... but i did deadlift as part of my circuit this past saturday i had 45 on each side, so my starting weight is 135. altho the other time i seriously deadlifted they were 35's so 115 and theres a vid of it! and I earned myself a tshirt but yeah i guess 135 is my first new PR? lol. unfortunately im not the most consistent with deadlifting as of yet. probly if/when i get more into crossfit
There is a difference between WISHING for a thing and being READY to receive it. No one is ready for a thing, until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be BELIEF, not mere hope or wish. Open-mindedness is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage, and belief.

Currently on ICF 5x5 and deadlifted 418 for 5 reps on Friday! I'm still using double over hand grip on all my deadlifts until I fail my first lift as the more double over hand you do the better your grip will get right? No need to do reverse grip if it isn't necessary right? Wish me luck on my quest monstrous proportions!
