Did some DL training today...
Trap-bar Deads... Top set was 405x9 straps but no belt. Coulda done more but I didn't feel safe enough without the belt. Not a fan of these anyhow.
Deadlift Grinds... Basically the exercise Jrahe was describing on the previous page. I did 5 sets of 2 reps with 315, grinding out for a 5 second count each rep. It was pretty fun.Planted like a tree beside the river of truth.

I have finally hit my metaphorical brick wall. Finally going to have to give in and buy chalk.
...after pulling 375x2 (PR, btw) I decided to try 400, got it halfway up and my grip completely gave out on me.
But, that's 20 lbs more than I pulled last week, so let's hope for 400 next week... I want it.
Also, srs question:
I have been doing this all completely raw, no straps, no chalk, no belts, no stinking badges....
I have read that if you haven't ever had a back injury and are concentrating on form, all a belt will do is add a higher max... should I add one? I'd rather not kill myself as I ship out for OCS in 1 month.¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I ain't even mad.

Nice man.
Belts add higher maxes, but they also engage all the same muscles (and some more than without a belt). Also, even a loosely-fitted belt can do a lot for you, in terms of proprioceptive feedback (allowing you to feel when your back is rounded due to changing skin patterns). This is discussed extensively in the stickied belt thread in this section.Training, philosophy, nutrition and biomedical discussion (2.0): http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=146797403

Deadlift day tonight, first heavy deadlift session since that 200kgx4 vid I posted.
Did a de-load week last week and decided to reset all my lifts a bit so only going for 190kgx5 tonight. Should be easy enough. I'll record it and chuck it up hereMy Madcow Journal - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=136450181

Here's a couple of vids from tonights deads session. The 190kg was harder than I thought it was gonna be =/
The 165kg was with a double overhand. Wanted to see if I could hold onto it. Ended up being easy. Grip wasn't failing at allLast edited by wick; 06-11-2010 at 05:02 AM.

i try to stay below 190 (undereat), i dont like to stand out, ppl start asking you dumb **** like omg how many days a week do you work out omg omg. its pretty hard since im very endomorphic. highest ive been was 198 and lowest was 175.
baby cows for breakfast and blood of virgins PWO.
not srs
i found another site where i learned to lift though, biggest factor was that.
if grip is a concern, throw in kroc rows somewhere into your routine. 3-4 sets of 15-30. this makes your grip failproof405ATG/325/585 @ 190 (~2011)

Oh, think you took it the wrong way. I usually use a mixed grip for my last two work sets so I don't have to worry about my grip failing and I can focus on form. Last night I decided to use a double overhand to see if I could actually hold onto it and it was fine. I have had grip issues in the past, but I've been doing a lot of wrist rollers and they've brought my grip up WAY past my DL max atm. I love wrist rollers <3 cheers for the advice anyway

Lift something.
Anyways, since everyone else has a vid up and I'll be gone for a week I figured I'd post this since the BB rows and power cleans can be considered DL training anyway. I'll definitely have a deadlift vid the week I return. Both of these vids are from the end of a workout where I did mostly Oly clean and jerks for an hour.

Serious. I'm kind of sick of misc, but here's my current "issue"...
I met this very cute girl while I was out clubbing that I felt some chemistry with, and she was with a group of friends. We talked for a bit, but then I gave her her space since she was celebrating her friend's birthday. I got her number earlier on, and sent her a text after we separated telling her to have a great night and to tell her friend happy birthday from me...
She was like "hang out soon! xoxoxo"
I responded "Yesss! Have fun."
I ended up running into her again when she was leaving, and she hugged me and said "It was really nice meeting you. Text me."
Five minutes later, I get a text: "hit me up. soon."
I ended up texting her and asking if she had plans for yesterday, and she said "not yetttt" so I said that we should do something if we're both free. Yesterday rolled around, and she had friends visiting from out of town. No biggie. I told her to let me know if she's free this weekend, and that I might be staying with my friend in Miami.
She was like "ok ", and later on I sent her a message when I was heading to the beach saying that it's too bad that she can't make it with a wink...
I really don't want to come across as needy here, but I'm completely new to this area and really don't know anyone... I'd love to entertain myself with friends and all, but I can't really play off the detached and somewhat mysterious person I usually am with girls given my lack of a social network at the moment.
Advice? I'd like to call her and set something up for tonight, but my 3 AM "you up?" text message didn't get a response and neither did the beach comment. Like I said, I don't want to be perceived as needy by contacting her a third time after two no responses, despite the two things I sent being things that don't necessarily need a response...
****!
Should I just go pump for two hours and come back with my natural high and call her? Probably going to do that.
Where did my balls go?
Also:
Leg death, or shoulder day despite sore shoulders (legs are sore from lots of biking over the past few days, too)??? Could also go for a deadlift marathon, though I'm still sore there too.
Update:
Called said girl pre-workout. No reply. Left a voicemail saying that I just wanted to see what's up, and said "text me when you get this."
No text. No response. Why do people lead others on like this? Giving this one more day until I deem her a **** that's not worth my time.Last edited by musicality213; 06-12-2010 at 04:49 PM.
