A little rust? No biggie. The reason I threw it up there is because there was a poster in the area that said I am getting all the good deals here. Easy enough to rehab those bars with some simichrome, and maybe 1000 steel wool. The bench is good enough to be able to squat from, and there's enough weight to get started for less than $200.00
Being way down south, weights are more expensive here. It's simply the additional 400 miles they have to travel. Rust is not an issue. Done some other metal rehab, mostly on bikes. With a little elbow grease, they'll come out good.*Security Officer Crew*

For any people in the uk this might interest you:
gumtree.com/p/for-sale/weight-bench-preacher-curl-bench/1027045219
It's a matrix adjustable bench. Used commercial stuff is so hard to come across, let alone for a good price. This isn't exactly a bargain, but if you're thinking of say getting the body solid pro club line bench new, this might be a good alternative with a bit of bartering.

Are you sure? I sent a message asking if they had any in Orlando and the response was "We need to check, but we can always send it with the next truck up." Either way, it sounds like they would move them for you if needed.
Anyway, I'm just looking at getting some home equipment so I can start lifting. Do you guys think it's worth it to buy some nicer plates like that for $1.25/lb instead of whatever I can get for $.30-$.50/lb?

Not if you have a limited budget. Bar, rack, and bench are the more "important" pieces. Good plates are nice, but won't have as big of an impact on your gym as having a better bar or a more stable bench or rack. If you can afford them then hell yeah, they fit the bar better, have tighter weight tolerances, and generally make you motivated every time you slap some badass 45s on your Texas Power Bar. But only if you have the budget. Remember - you can always resell cheap plates down the road for what you bought them for if you got them used/cheap.

Like the other posters have said, I also think No. First of all I dont like the rubber or poly or whatever its called. I just dont think they can hold up 50 years from now, like regular iron plates. And 1.25 is still expensive.
Just get the regular plates for now, the .3 to .5 ones and save some money. Then get regular metal Ivanko ezlifts cheaper than that price if they come up. if not no problem.[]---[] Equipment Crew #6 []---[]

$400 for a junk Apex bench and squat stands, Gold's Gym tree and some standard plates and bars?! ...It belongs in this other thread: Another Craigslist dreamer........
The Apex bench and squat stands are low quality... also the squat stands don't have any spotters.
You may as well buy new at that price. I wouldn't recommend buying that junk but it cost $300 brand new from http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en And it's sold in the USA as Marcy for $200 including shipping http://www.amazon.com/Marcy-Classic-.../dp/B00245TWWG
Always look up the retail price first. There are exceptions but in general try to buy used equipment at half the retail price.
The green plates might be worth 40 to 50 cents a pound (they might be York but I can't tell from the photos). But only the 10 pound and smaller plates would be useful for dumbbell handles. And you'll need an olympic bar and plates to use in a power rack.
Get a power rack, bench and olympic set... or if you don't have the cash for it, then get some spinlock dumbbell handles and some 10 pound and smaller pancake plates to get you started. Or if you have the cash, then get both the dumbbells and the Oly set, rack and bench.Last edited by morebarbell; 08-05-2013 at 12:25 AM.

Ive landed some nice deals lately off CL...I tire of hitting the gym and started again working on my home gym, biggest drawback for me was not having a nice hex set. So I found recently a deal of 5s - 60s on craigslist with a dumbbell rack, $370 bucks.
Gets even better though, the chick then just pointed to her plates and said its all yours. About 800 lbs in brand new weight plates and a tree. Plus just threw in an ez, tri rope etc...
The story was basically this, she was diagonosed with a neurological problem that can cause her to lose her grip, so all her free weights she needed to get rid of. So I got all of it for 370 bucks, my buddy was freakin...hes like dude you landed the deal of the century lol, it was sweet. I already had my Olympic stuff, had about 400+ lbs of my original setup, this just put me over the top.
Just planning to snag 65s on up, but it was a nice start for hex bells and I was able to ditch my starlocks.Last edited by EdgeOfThorns; 08-05-2013 at 12:03 AM.

I edited my post with more info. Even if you are on a tight budget, there's no benefit to buying used junk at close to the original retail price. Buying used is only cost effective when it's cheaper than new. And the doctor bills will add up quick if there's a mishap with a squat stand that lacks any sort of spotter.

Founds some deals in my area and wanted to know what you guys think between the two choices
1. An old version made in the USA IM2000 for $250
2. Magnum seated calf raise and a vertical leg press (cant tell the brand but its pretty heavy duty for $175
I figure I can do seated calf raises and leg presses on the IM2000 but I'm not sure what type of feel this machine offers. I already know how the commercial seated calf raise performs and always wanted a vertical leg press. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
